Picking Up Pieces
(Plant Your Dream!)

Picking Up Pieces by YourEnchantedGardener .....

I see where I could spend today writing, but this is a Packing Up and Traveling Day. I want to take care of some details before I go.

Date:   6/27/2008 9:35:46 AM ( 16 y ago)

7:13 AM
June 27, 2008

Still have a painful thorn in the bottom of my foot.
I do not know how to get it out.

The wise thing would be to pay attention.
My foot does feel a bit swolen.

Removing a thorn was out of the range of
Warren, my practitioner at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.

My attention is being drawn to this unseen thorn
as I prepare to travel today up to LA.

A part of me wants to stay home. Yes.
A part of me wants to settle in and settle down.

I am going the distance to pick up pieces.

There are two events in LA.
The most important is the 2008 Induction Ceremony
for the Athletic Hall of Fall at Los Angeles Valley College.

I hear from Raul, the LAVC Foundation Director, that
there will be more than 390 people.

I have not been back to this School since 1968
and yet it played a significant role in my development.

1965 I graduated High School. I was limping through
my senior year. I was in grief, unspoken, unfelt.
I was up against feelings of having no home.
I believe my father had left that year to find his second wife
who ran away. I do not believe he was at my graduation
from High School.

With the help of Richard Lapidus, we moved from the
City to the San Fernando Valley. Do not ask how we got
the furniture out there into our apartment. I can't remember.
I do remember living there for most of that year,
and then the experience of tossing out a lot of family treasures
that became my responsibility to handle.

The first month of school or near to it the stress got to me.
I became paralyzed in my tracks. This was not a rich entry into college.
I had aspirations of going into Journalism. LAVC had a great reputation.
In High School, we went there once for a Journalism contest.

Heading into the hospital for near a month was no way
to make a good impression on the head of the Department.
She was a woman who played favorites. Clearly she Blessed
and Cursed through the attention she gave to particular students.
I do not know why I feel into the second catagory.

I am like a plant. I thrive on personal attention.
IT is my M.O. Sorry. I know this to be true.
I can still feel myself wilting when I feel disapproval or what
feels like neglect.

I could see the writing on the wall at LAVC.
I was not going to go very far in that Journalism department.
I chose another path. I went into Student Government.

The timing feels confusion in my head.
Is Gymnastics a Spring or a Fall Sport at LAVC?
Likely Spring. I believe it may have been the Spring
of the First Year. I was writing about the Gymnastics team
for the Valley Star, our school newspaper.

There was a delightful man, a joyfilled man
named Ray Follosco, Raymond C. Follosco.
He was the Gymnastic Coach. He was the first
of a number of positive role models that came into my life
at a time when I deeply needed some positive role models.
I would say that the Coaches of the Athletic Department
saved my life.

That was the era of the Vietnam War.
The office of Commissioner of Men's Athletics was
uncontested. I ran for that office. I was to assume office
the following semester, but because of the war
The Commissioner could not M.C. the Athletic Awards Banquet.
This was at the end of my first year in college.
That was quite a leap from missing the first month of college
in the hospital to being on stage before athletes at the end
of the semester. That Spring was filled with the joy
of Ray Follosco and being part of the team. The Team.
The Team. I was part of a Team.

Ray, the gymnasts, and I got real close.
I can see some of these names now on a sheet
I found yesterday going though old archives.

I have saved a lot of archives. Glad I did.
I can go through long bouts where I do not remember
at all who I am or places where I have showed up.

See where I could get into a lot of writing.
Rina will not be home on Sunday. Saturday is going
to be a filled day with two events.
Sunday, I can write up at Rina's.
Monday too, if I wish.

I am going to take my archive book.
Hopefully I will be able to get online.

I am amazed going through this bio notebook
and seeing some of the notes from others I have saved.

I have to plan this day wisely, or I will be exhausted
by tomorrow. This would not be a good plan.
I want to be on tomorrow, not tired.

8/28/76

For the good memory of our blessed meeting
we achieve, travel together for great accomplishments
and be servants for humanity.

GAMEPLAN for TODAY:

Clear bed for confidence, quickly....
Take Archieve book with me...o.k.
Take old computer with me.
Will I have access to internet at Rina's?
Get out of here!

Mail Job's Tears that are owned....

Bandaids with donut holes?
Is there some way to ease the pressure of this sliver
in my foot until I can deal with it.

I will be doing a lot of walking on it tomorrow.
Not the Best Plan. No position to take care of this now.

Do some printing...
put together a Rhimax book bound for traveling..
one hour...

Get the EG Mobile Washed.

Do not get caught in traffic, dear Leslie.

Stopover at Dayla? Check in with Twin Soul?

Get going Leslie, please.

Eric,
Thanks for your encouraging words.

I am prepping today for an outing in LA,
The Venice Eco-Fest, and also a Jr. College Reunion.
I am picking up pieces from early years in my life,
and going to do some writing on my book
the ULTIMATE PLANT LOVER.

Keep the Beet is going to be one of the Experts
in the Go to for ADIVE DEPARTMENT IN THIS BOOK.
Many exciting conferences this Spring.
Glad Summer is here and time to integrate.

I would like to see you visit here and follow up on our
meeting.

I will be home a lot this summer.

Glad the Job's Tears are growing for you.

Please write me again next week around Wednesday.
I will put you on my EG Maling List.

Let's stay in touch and find a time for you to visit.

Your Enchanted Gardener,
Leslie

PS you can read my Blog to keep up and get inspiration.

Hello Leslie,
This is Eric from the healing arts festival, I work with the hydroponics and organics store. I was really pleased to make your acquaintance and was wondering if I could visit your community to see your garden. I visited the world beat center today and will be helping them with some worm casting tea for their garden. I would love to see your sustainable community and speak with you some more on the subject of renewable growing mediums, and any contributions we may be able to make. Again I really appreciate what you are doing and it helps to keep me motivated in the hopes that we will soon be able to spread the word more about how we can coexist with this planet. So I'm just doing what I can to "keep the beat" here in the confines of the city, and would like to keep spreading my efforts and expanding my horizons. You can get a hold of me through this email, or by phone . Thanks again for the Job's Tears...they are growing wonderfully. Peace my enchanted gardener,
Eric
