BIO 2008 Stages Incredible Happening in Gaslamp Quarter by YourEnchantedGardener .....

The Gaslamp Quarter, one of San Diego's most popular Downtown attractions, hosted BIO 2008 last night. It was an incredible event.

The Gaslamp Quarter, one of San Diego's most popular downtown redevelopment projects,
was the scene last night for an incredible happening on closing night festivities for
BIO 2008, the Biotechnology Industry Organizations global meetup, June 17-18-19-20
at the San Diego Conventon Center.

Pacific Event Productions worked all day on creating a unique street scene that
covered more than a block of activities.

BIO 2008 guests were treated to Foodie Heaven with ten restaurants on FIfth Street
each featuring buffet style faire. Many of the restaurants had full bars in operation,
as well as Pelagrina for the non-drinkers among us.

The center of the street had a number of stages and street performers.

The event was hosted by BioMaryland, the Maryland Department of Business and
Economica Development, SAIC-Frederick, Inc, TCM/MdBIo, Inc, and a host of other generous partners.

Mango Mousse was my desert of choice for the evening. It was at Masala.

________

I hardly made it around the Foodie route and its mind boggling array of sights.
I was delightfully distracted, spending some quality time with Dr. Ralf Cord-Ruwisch
of Murdoch University Western Australia. What are the Scientific chances that out of
an attendence of more than 20,000, I would be bumping into Ralf three of four days?

We obviously had much to share.

Dr. Ralf is Director of Centre for Organic Waste Management at Murdoch University.

Not only does he have a clear understanding of the state of the BIOTECH REVOLUTION
from the inside out, but also a keep reverance and respect for Natural Processes.
He is a gardener and grows a bit of his own food.

Pennsylvania enjoy comeraderie at Masala. The food was especially delightful. Georgia
hosts BIO 2009.

I feel honored that I can bring my perspectives to BIO 2008.
I want to continue to be a nexus point, where those in the movement
can find a friend who has an established relationship as well within the Organic and Natural Food
Products Industry. I am also invested in Medical Research and Development.

I would not be walking today were it not for the skill of Dr. Harold Bugbee,
a world class surgeon at the UCSD Thornton Hospital. Numbers of surgeons turned
away from the difficulty of my particular case. I was sent to the best.

About eight months later after my two surgeries at the beginning of 2000-2001,
I received an invite to attend a Fundraiser for a new medical building at UCSD.
The event was held at a beautiful home in Rancho Sante Fe,
one of the more upscale areas of San Diego County.

I had no idea why I received this invite. At the door greeting me was Dr. Bugbee.
"Why was I invited?" I asked. He said he appreciated how I had advocated for my own
health while at Thornton. He wanted my presence and opinion to be voiced as USCD
and its Chancellor took the next step. While in the hospital, I appreciated the morphin
I very much needed. By the second day of my surgery I was handling my pain with
Arnica Montana 30C, a simple homeopathic over the country product you can get
up the street at Whole Foods Market. I pay about $13.00 bucks for three vials.

Weeks before my surgeries, I made friends with the chef.
During my surgeries, I had my local organic farming friends drop off enough food
to feed me, my guests, and some of the staff. I set up my room as a Healing Haven.
I set an intention that each person I met would have their lives influenced for the better.
Through my Getting Hip, I wanted to help Health Care get Hip to all it could be.
I was reading my love poetry going into the surgery room to the nurses. I had my closest
female friend, as well as former girlfriends staying in my room.
Some of them were natural healers. They were welcomed into ICU.
One M.D. friend was with me on a difficult night, lending emotional support
and chicken soup. Dalya Miri Ralston, another M.D.'s wife, and a personal friend,
was with me on the difficult second day, when I needed extra blood.
When I left the hospital, the nurse's aid was by then a friend.

I am here at BIO 2008 with the same intent. I am here to make friends.
I am here to find the good. I am here to share my perspectives
based on more than 30 years of hands-on experience eating the finest organic
foods available on this planet, many that can grow right here in San Diego.
I am 60 years old. Some people say I look much younger.

I am here at BIO 2008 to open up a dialogue.

I want to see how those in Scientifically based BIotech, and those of us
in Earth Centered natural Biotech can do what is best to innovate, heal, fuel,
and feed our beloved world. Let us learn from each other. Let us look
at the problems we have created. Let's be honest, and do the right thing.
There is no shortage of profit for those who decide to live fruitfully
on this earth. She is most abundant to all who learn her ways.

There is a tendency to demonize those things we do not personally know.
As you read my blogs, you will find my own awakening.

I have felt hurt by the Biotech industry.
I love the integrity of plants. I love the American ideal
that goes, "Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies for amber waves of grain."
I feel it is a good thing to protect our patents that come from invention. We need to respect
as well farmers who may have their crops effected by the drift of what we create
in the lab. Taking away another person's right to grow food naturally
without GMO invasion is something we need to look at. I believe
we can find ways to continue to use our science as when as natural wisdom
to transform our world into an Enchanted Garden.

I stand with former eminent gardeners of the American Dream
who were U.S. Presidents as well as being themselves scientists and Plant Lovers.
Study the life of Thomas Jefferson for one.

Many people who grow plants develop sensitivities to others.
The Ultimate Plant Lover is a lover of humanity.
That person turns to nature to see how things naturally grown.
Upon this foundation, we add science and our ability to use our marvelous
mind to see the smallest of things. It is our responsibility to see the Part
but remember the Whole.

Funds raised will help create more understanding between
various aspects of the Scientifically based BIOTECH REVOLUTION and those of us in
what I am calling Naturally based Bio Tech.
Through dialogue, we can find the beauty in each other, and the melding point
where the Biotech of today and tomorrow and 8000 years of nature wisdom
converge.

Always figured I’d wait for some desperate moment.
Now it’s here."-- Bob Baker, Los Angeles times Magazine

"Do you remember, a lifetime ago,
when Nat King Cole had a hit song
called "Nature Boy"? It told about
"a strange, enchanted boy"
who wandered far, very far,
and when he met you,
he taught you many things.
I've met that boy,
or someone very much like him,
and he is now a man known as
"The Enchanted Gardener..."
I may never be the same."
