Noel Stehly, of Stehly organic farms,
whose local organic foods are featured
in Whole Foods Market Hillcrest, will have samples of his
Valencia oranges and Ruby Grapefruits
offered to the children at World Environment Day,
June 2, at Professoris Park, Tecete, Baja Mexico.

The event, sponsored by Fundacion La Puerta, will feature
more than 40 exhibits, including five from the US. More than
5000 Tecate Children are expected from 12 noon-7 PM.

Stehly fruits will be part an exhibit
called "We are enchanted garden Neighbors
(nosotros somos vecinos del jardîn encanto.)
Friendship is a river that has no borders.'
(La amistad es un rîo que no tiene frontera.)

"The purpose of the exhibit will be to inspire children
through taste, interactive play, and song in the wonders of
gardening, growing seeds, and family farming of locally
grown organic foods," says Leslie Goldman, AKA Your Enchanted Gardener,
organizer of the exhibit.

Other activities will include giving away and planting
free Job's Tears seeds, and inviting kids to make "Soil Mates" headbands.
We will share a message from Joe the Farmer, a character in
Leslie's Forthcoming book, "The Comeback of Joe the Farmer."

Joe the Farmer says,
"Children, let us grow healthy food for everybody!"

"Mother Earth does not see borders.
The Enchanted Garden is a name for our renewed earth.
I am planting seeds today that we shall come to live
in one Enchanted Garden, Whole Kids everywhere!"
said The Enchanted Gardener.

An international Troubadour involved
in many peace making activities, will participate in
inspiring the children.

Goldman is a great proponent of locally grown organic food.
"San Diego County, and our Region, is an area where we can grow enough
food locally for all the people who live here. It is time to move in this
direction."

THE COMEBACK OF JOE THE FARMER

Leslie is currently working on "The Comback of Joe the Farmer"
a children's book inspired by the life of Joe Rodriguez Jr.
The story tells the hardship one San Diego County family has experienced
over a decade, and the strength of Joe the Farmer, who
"No Matter what, never, never, never gave up."

The book sees the comeback for all Family Farmers,
all Joe the Farmers. Goldman plans to read the story
to kids this fall at schools.

The state of california has been giving up to $5000.00
to any school that reguested a garden. There is
another round of receiving that will happen because
more funds are available.

LOVE LETTER TO JOE THE FARMER

Goldman, among his Enchanted Garden Projects
is working with Joe Rodriguez Jr. on his
Comeback Family Farm Campaign that aims to inspire a new generation
of Family Farmers locally--on both sides of the border.

Rodriguez is currently leasing farmland that his family
had owned since 1958 and farmed organically since 1985.
Discussions are now underway to buy back the 100-acre land
as well as other properties in the region where he will again own his
own farm land and share farming skills.

"A Love Letter to Joe the Farmer"
is the centerpiece of the Rodriguez Buy Back campaign.

Individuals are signing the Love Letter and making contributions
to launch the campaign. The aim of the campaign is to ensure that not are Joe Rodriguez and hisfamily once again in charge of the land where they farm, but
that San Diego County has enough designated farmland to feed its people.

Signers of "A Love Letter to Joe the Farmer,"
include Delores Huerta, Cofounder of the United Farm Workers:
Dr. Andrew Weil, a proponent of Better Nutrition, a Call to Action; and
Daniel Imhoff, author of "Foodfight," The Citizen's Guide to a Food and Farm Bill.

"Joe the Farmer is not only Joe Rodriguez, Jr.
but an archetype for the local family farmer making a comeback,"
The Enchanted Gardener said.

The "Love Letter" is an expression of gratitude to all Family
Farmers striving to grow locally grown organic foods against
many odds.

the health of our bioregion. They have helped create a Bioregional Park along the border.
