Be Responsible for What you Did
This needs to be a different kind of holiday
season. We need some deep listening,
loving, and peace on earth.

the task of sending innocent lives into the streets of the decimated
parts of New Orleans to attempt to reclaim what is now the equivalent
of a Hazardous waste dump. If we go ahead and use the current
popular ways of cleanup, I am concerned we are going to end
up with a lot of sick young folks as we did when we did the cleanup
of of the Valdez in the 80's.
WE BETTER CALL A CONFERENCE AND CONFER
WITH SOME ENLIGHTENED NEW APPROACHES
FOR SUCH CLEANUP BEFORE WE SEND MORE OF OUR
YOUTH INTO HARM'S WAY HERE IN THE STREETS OF
NEW ORLEANS. NATURE CAN CURE THIS MESS IF WE
SUPPORT HER NATURALLY WITH EFFECTIVE MICROORGANISMS
AND OTHER BIOREMEDIAL MEASURES.
The other night I had an adverse reaction watching PBS News
They were interviewing the Chief of Staff of the Military who was so
honored to hold this post.
The Cost of War--the mentality that creates Weapons of Destruction--
simple must be outgrown if we are to ever embody fully on this planet.
We have created enough Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MSC) and
Cancerous growth. We have to go another way.
We are each Vitally influenced when our fellow humans succumb
to the consciousness that we can fight our way into a peaceful world.
There is enough love for everybody on this earth.
There is enough food for everyone on this earth.
There is enough good will for everyone on this earth
if we truly export the Goodness of the Holiday Season
rather than the by-products of our fearful and debilitating
disowned parts of ourself.
Our disowned feelings
are huge parts of ourselves. They are reflected in the other humans
of the planet who we imagine are somehow less than us.
Where do all the rioting ideas come from that we are
seeing in France now?
Where does all the hurt stem from?
Why are people so angry at us?
Why would they ever want to take us down?
STOP. Please. invite someone in your neighborhood
to a nice holiday dinner and listen to them.
Invite someone you do not know.
Make a new friend, perhaps of someone who looks different,
believes different.
The other night, about a week ago, I was on my way home after
a long tiring frustrating day. Nothing was going as i wanted.
Nothing was working--not the laminator, not the EG Mobile...on and on...
I finally got the vehicle back. I was hungry.
I stopped in to visit Hani, my Moslem friend who owns
Near East Foods on El Cajon blvd, not far away.
Ramadan, one of the Moslem holy months, was five days from its end.
Hani was very hungry and about to eat. He invited me to eat with him.
He usually eats standing, but I asked if we could sit together, so we
sat on some boxes in the Olive and cheese section, where they sell
different things from countries very far away.
The meal was very spicy, a soup, that was made with cow's foot, and some
lamb shank., and lots of well cooked grains that most of us do not
take the time to eat. It is not my normal diet, but it was nourishing.
The intent was there. How could this food be anything less than good?
I asked about his Faith, and he told me. He mentioned principles
charity, love of the one God, and more.
I asked more about the Holy Water of ZamZam that I get from him.
This ZamZam water is from the well where Hegar, the mother of
Abraham's first child, found something to drink after being abandoned
in the desert.
Hani was telling me that ZamZam means gathering in.
Hegar , when she saw the water, gathered it in, as if God
had only made a small little amount for her. She was scared
there would not be enough water. The legend says that if she
had trusted, there would be a whole wide river running through
the desert of Saudi Arabia now.
There is no source for the water at that well today.
There is no underground river feeding the well. There is no nearby
stream, nothing.
There is only this five by five meter well, not very deep, where people
come and take water, and then, they believe God replenishes the water.
If we all start talking--one to one-we will be creating that same kind of
miracle. Our source is someplace else. It is not physical.
Nothing physical alone is going to get us out of our problems today.
Life is a miracle, and we have the gift that we can see through each
other's eyes, if only for an instant.
We can outgrow war.
We need to.
We can outgrow the need to make weapons of mass destruction.
What goes around comes around.
We do not have any place to dump bad things.
We can find non-violent ways of digging in and making the earth
a more fertile place. We simple have to. We have all the seeds
we need. We have all the earthworms we need. We have
all the good intentions we need.
At our nearly Camp Pendleton, the Marine base here in San Diego
County, they now have to give each of the base dwellers water in bottles because they cannot trace the source of extraodinary high amounts of chemicals in the ground water. Something is seeping there too, right on the base.
It is a consciousness that is seeping and attempting
to come again whole and clean and connected, and all this
disaster of fouled elements is helping us turn in another direction.
The Army, the Marines, the Whole Military heads need to sit down
and rethink with us.
I once attended a Christmas service on this Camp Pendleton
when my good friend Linda Hill, a former nun, was called in to play
harp and sing to the the Catholic men.
i saw good young men all praying to God, just as the good young
men of the Moslems were praying somewhere else on their
bases.
i am asking us each to be responsible for what we are doing now
and supporting.
I am asking that we slow down and take a deep look at how we
can really reclaim this land of New Orleans that is so very polluted now.
I want the heads of the miltary to get in touch with the body of the earth.
We can't keep doing things like This:
"The effect of the dumping operations has never been studied. Few scientists knew that it was done, so studies of the decline in sea life over the years has never focused on the possibility of leaking chemical weapons.
Commercial fishing operations, as well as scallop and clam trawlers, have been forced to go farther and farther from shore over past 25 years because sea life has thinned for unknown reasons. Some scallopers now dredge in up to 400 feet of water, which is more than 100 miles from the shore in some East Coast locations.
The bottom-dwelling cod population in the Northern Atlantic has been decimated.
Hundreds of bottlenose dolphins mysteriously washed up on Virginia and New Jersey shores in 1987. They died with large, never-explained skin blisters that resembled mustard gas burns on humans.
Federal marine scientists ultimately attributed the unprecedented number of dolphin deaths to a combination of morbillivirus - related to distemper in dogs - and potent vibrio bacteria from industrial pollutants.
That combination has killed other marine mammals over the years. But none has ever been found with its skin partly peeling off.
One marine mammal specialist who suspects that leaking chemical weapons killed the dolphins met Army officials and was told dumping had been done. But he was assured the weapons were unloaded too deep to harm the coastal-living creatures.
"You'd see the photos and you'd say, 'Man, this animal was burned by something,' " said Bob Schoelkopf, director of the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine, N.J. He said "it is a very good possibility" that leaking chemical weapons killed the dolphins.
"It'd be nice to see the Army go down there and investigate, but nobody wants to open that book, it seems," Schoelkopf said. "You'd think they'd want to go look at those sites and say once and for all this isn't a problem. The amazing thing is they are not being monitored."
