Natural Oasis Near SDSU Room for Rent in Shared Household
Natural Oasis Near SDSU Room for Rent in Shared Household,
We are looking for a great new housemate here at the Enchanted Garden, an intentional-community household since 1978.
While this blog post is from 2016, the rents haven't changed since then!
This small, cute room is available for $520 monthly or can go down to $400 with garden-work credit.
It is usually a room we reserve for full-time students but if you're considerate and health-conscious you'll be a welcome addition to our household! (Sorry, no pets tho . . . )
The house is 81 years old now, and the videos in this blog post are wonderful. I think you'll enjoy them!
At the end of the blog post, Leslie Goldman shares the questions we ask of applicants. It's one of the best ways to start to get to know you.

THE ROOM THAT IS AVAILABLE JUNE 1 THAT CAN BE VIEWED NOW RENTS FOR $520.00 OR AS LOW AS $400.00 WITH 12 HOURS WORK PER MONTH
The Enchanted Garden Intentional Community has an opening available starting June 1st for new housemates. This is a small, cozy room that rents for $520 a month including utilities or can be as low as $400 with up to 12 hours of work trade per month.
We are not just a boarding house but rather a unique community household looking for exceptional members. Located in College Area on 1/3 of an acre situated on the edge of a canyon, this is a very special natural setting with a lot to offer someone who is growth-oriented, health-conscious, ecologically-conscious, spirituality-conscious and a good team player.
The property features a koi pond, extensive Healing Arts library, some gardening space, plenty of peace and quiet, an outdoor massage/meditation area, and a magical atmosphere where nature has free reign.
It is the perfect setting for dreams to grow in. Aromatic herbs, flowers, and fruit are already growing on the property, with room for more contingent on drought conditions, and your willingness to be a responsible plant parent. (Imagine picking your breakfast fresh off the tree different times of the year!)
We are seeking a new community member who will be a good fit for our co-evolving community home. Please comment here and Private Message me on Facebook or text your information to the phone number listed here.
STATUS OF ROOMS FOR RENT
Room Available beginning June 1, 2018. Our Home is within ten minute Walking Distance of San Diego State University and is an ideal location for a financially stable student or student of life.
This is a 76-year-old home surrounded by 1/3 acre and canyons with very strong nature ambiance. This is an opportunity to live in the city in a natural environment.
MORE ON RENT OPTION
There is a rent option of saving up to $120.00 off the $520 rent with doing a work trade of12 hours per month garden care, house upkeep/repair or deep cleaning work.
We are currently looking for an applicant who likely wants to pay the higher amount. without doing the work trade, but the work trade is valued at $10.00 per hour.
SHARED DAILY UPKEEP
A requirement for living here also includes ten minutes of daily cleaning (3 hr. per month). We want to maintain a standard of cleanliness that keeps our home tidy. We share some household duties, and we ask that you to clean up after yourself with basics.
We need someone who will clean up after themselves daily. This is a shared house and we depend on each person to keep the bathroom clean and the kitchen tidy.
LAST MONTH RENT
We also require a deposit equal to Last Month Rent, all or some of that is made as a deposit when you commit to live here.
COOPERATIVE LIVING SKILLS
Our household aspires to practice Cooperative Living Skills. We want to live in a peaceful environment that respects each person's privacy. We are refining our vision and mission statement, and look forward to sharing our home with housemates who are committed to personal growth and living with others who do not necessarily have the same spiritual path.
On this property, there is an opportunity now to be part of a group that includes other good hearted housemates who share our large house and property with many trees and plants on a 1/3 acre nature retreat.
ABOUT THE AVAILABLE ROOM
The room is an approx10x10 attic-type room with a hardwood floor and sloping ceiling. It has no closet but some storage space is available. Painted in mostly lavender tones, it is charming and restful, a unique space for a person who likes a cozy nest-like environment.
There is a firm twin spring-cot in the room, or you can bring your own bed.
We have laundry on the premises, an affordable coin-op washer and dryer.
The full bathroom is shared with other housemates.
OUR FOOD CHOICES
We have a shared kitchen. We have different diets here, mainly whole, pure, natural foods. We have limited use of fish in the kitchen, an array of fresh foods and vegetables are being prepared. We lean toward maintaining the kitchen as vegetarian, however, others who live here prepare non-vegetarian food.
We have monthly potlucks with neighbors, students and friends.
NO PETS PLEASE
We seldom allow pets in the house or property.
NO SMOKING OR DRINKING OF ALCOHOL ON THE PREMISES
This has been a non smoking environment for many years, so we do not allow smoking in the house or on the property. A number of our residents like to visit the pub on occasion.
CURRENT GROWTH PATTERN OF THE HOUSE AND PROPERTY
Our highest aspiration is that your dreams be nurtured while you live here and that you benefit from living in this very special environment with other well intended people who desire the best for you, our environment, and the earth. Blessings Come When We Take Care of the Land!
PLEASE GIVE ME A CALL TODAY!
We would very much like to hear from you about renting this room. We wish you a good experience living here and in your search for a new place to live.
