Phase 2 - Day 14

Continuing On...

Ah, a bit to review - its been quite a few days since I last wrote to update this blog, the last post had me in the early evening of day 8 wondering if I was going to complete the enema series I'd started that night or the next day. I did complete it that evening, and the big inner spring clean took a lot out of me - it was a deep cleanse and afterwards I was quite tired and floaty and noticed my short term memory was really not intact for a bit. I went to bed after with a movie and drank a lot of nutrient water - was still quite washed out the next day or so.

I continued fasting right up to day 11, on day 10 I traveled back to the city with a cooler full of fresh juices and tonics I'd made before leaving - my period had started and I've found that sometimes it doesn't really come properly if I'm fasting - due to this and my general feeling that I'd become a bit floaty and low on energy again after the big cleanse I took some simple food on the 11th, 12th & 13th - slowly having a little chicken and rice - I can eat a small amount then later have another small amount and over a few days I consumed 2 serves of that and a bit of fancy chocolate mousse - it was grounding and refreshed me, my period came heavily after I ate and now I feel like I've had enough solid food for some time and am going back on the fast back to just liquids today.

It was interesting to see how deeply I am on this fast, even with the 3 days of taking some food, the white color never left my tongue and I continued to detox the whole time. I was a bit suprised by that as in the past, when I start taking food, I have noticed a pretty quick change in the color of my tongue - it seemed like the food on this occassion, didn't so much interrupt the fast as just slow it down slightly and I don't have the sense of physical indications that the fast has ever stopped - it was grounding and revitalizing and it hasn't given me any discomfort or problems, it has been helpful and restorative - I think people should be careful however when taking solid food after a long time of not having it - being on a juice fast makes it a lot easier than if someone was on a more restrictive fast - having juice and milk like I do makes it less of a shock to the system but I'm still very careful what I eat and not to eat it too fast, but very slowly in small amounts so my system can handle it and to stop again after I have taken something in and let my system rest again. Eating something when you are still on the fast is not the same to me as breaking the fast - when I truly break the fast to go back to solids, I'll do that with orange juice, soups and probiotics taken over the first week or three while I slowly shift more solids into my diet along with the liquids - it takes time to transition if you've done a long fast and taking some food at some points within the long fast itself is not a complete return to normal digestion patterns - basically I have really emptied my intestinal tract out after many days of following a liquid diet - eating a little over a few days I can really feel it filling up again and I don't want to overtax or overfill which would lead to discomfort and probably other problems, including possible pain and constipation alongside a confused blood stream dealing with too much. Its important to be mindful and simple and moderate. I can really feel I've had enough now and to return to the fast. One shouldn't just break their fast willy nilly.

So I started today with the last of the charcoal lemonade tonic I made last week and a dandelion tea. Bought myself some great fruits and veggies last night at the shops and will be juicing a bit of green juices and fruit juices throughout each day. I have also started incorporating some almond or peanut mylk into some of the fruit juices which is really nice and went down really easily without any digestive grumbles.

On I continue, refreshed and grounded - inspired to get back to my practice and yoga now that I'm home again for a week or two!
