Where did we go wrong?
More over the question should be what do we need to do to correct this fine mess we are in? One thing is for sure if the U.S. keeps going down this road at the present speed it will not be too long before it wrecks! Islam and China are both ready to take over!

What has been happening with the Education System in the United States?
In 1970, about 40 percent of the nation's wealth was held by 10 percent of the population. Today, almost 40 percent is held by just 1 percent of the population (and over 70 percent is held by just 10 percent of Americans). While the upper 5% of the the wealthy pay 40% of the Income taxes, yet 60% of the lowest wages earners pay only 5% of the taxes.... Over half of the adult population in the U.S. do not pay any income taxes...
Of course there has to be an educated governing class, or is that a real necessary to have such snobbish university educated leaders... It is just that the lobbyists can obviously afford the private schools ; because royalty runs the banks and big corporations that make political donations which write many laws for busy legislators (thanks to the Supreme Court), so why do we need to educate anyone else?
It's also apparent that we're not getting much for what we do invest. In 1970, 80 percent of kids graduated high school and the U.S. was ranked #1 in every meaningful educational category. Today, only about 50 percent get only a cetificiate of completeion , while the rest graduate, yet according to statistics, U.S. students’ math capabilities are ranked below such educational giants such as Poland or the Slovak Republic, hardly worth the nearly $1 trillion spent each year in this country for public schools. Something is wrong folks!
Moreover, those who do earn sheepskins aren't putting them to very good use. Half the country spends their time buying, and flying, going to games, driving expensive cars, and living it up with parties in over priced houses! They fusesto take time to notice pollution or even read a newspaper with daily headlines of unprecedented floods, famine, fire, and riots... . Many of those grads ignore their costly education! Besides college was frat house parties, football games and sexua| getaways...
California voters recently passed a ballot measure requiring any tax or fee increases to have a two-thirds majority of the legislature, meaning that there will be no new revenues any time soon. Taxpayers in other states are in a similar penny-pinching mood and the Tea Party was largely created on a mandate of lower taxes and less government. The Republican budget study committee proposed $2.5 trillion of cuts to the federal budget over 10 years, sparing major entitlements and the military, where such massive fat could be trimmed.
At least someone is attempting to make a difference! HUH!
Let China waste all the money it makes -- selling us soon-to-be landfill fodder cleverly disguised as products we can’t live without, delivered in excessive packaging that actually does require an advanced degree to figure out how to open it -- and then not properly educating its population. We will have it all -- What we need is lower taxes, cheap gasoline, less government!
Any ideas?
