Our relationship to the Food Chain--the very chain
of being is broken now on land and at sea.
It is time for the Beetkeepers to come together

now, we will look back at this moment in time
as a time when key decisions were made that determined
the fate of our bright green future. It is an honor

His vision of providing sustainable packaging

There is a progression of Keep The Beet and
Leslie toward service in Washington D.C.
This seed dream has been planted.
Leslie inspired the book, "The Ultimate Gardener"
published by HCI Books. The author, Charlie Nardozzi,
was a consultant for Michelle Obama on the White House
Organic Garden. Six of Leslie's photos are in
"The Ultimate Gardener." The book came out in
Fall 2009. The dedication reads:
To Leslie Goldman,
The Enchanted Gardener,
for planting dreams and seeds
of inspiration.
To all those who garden
and or those who dream to have
a garden one day.
The Beet Keepers program is dedicated
to that Seed Dream, a nation of gardeners.
One pot + One Beet = You're a Gardener.
BIOSMART 4 oz pots are part of national campaign
to inspire a nation of Gardeners
The Pot will begin as a Biosmart Pot.
This pot goes beyond biodegradable.
It is compostable.
It will soften and fall apart.
The bottom starts going black first.
At this point, put your beet in a larger pot
to do the KEEP THE BEET PROJECT.
You can also plant a fully grown smaller
beet in these pots.
I generally use two pots.
On the inner pot, I write the Seed Dream
that I intend to grow.
Then I decorate the outer pot.
The outer pot is like a diaper.
You will not want to compost this one.
The Kids at the recent B;nai Horin High Holidays
made art on their pots.
They were very attached to them.
MARCH 2010
Keep The Beet met with
California Secretary of Ag A.G. Kawamura
and USDA keynote Pegg Rayne at the
California Small Farm Conference in
San Diego.
Pegg Rayne of the USDA (R) visits with
a small farmer needing help. Keep The Beet
was on site and hooked Leslie up with
a number of new sponsors including
Tina of Westerbridge Ag. There is
a followup needed with a wonderful
basket company.
Biosmart will be introduced more strongly
next year to this important venue.
She and Your Enchanted Gardener
were very inspired by the welcoming.
LESLIE: I want to create a dlalogue where we lessen the tension
between Science, Ethics, and Food, and just start listening
to one another. Would you support that?
A.G. KAWAMURA: ...Absolutely.
You just mentioned exactly where we are, Science and Ethics, and the
philosophies of how we bring those all together has always been
a part of where.. agriculture... (we are at] }crossroads..a bridge... between the two...in many ways.

We planted beet plants and are watching them grow our seed dreams!! We learned about the importance of eating natural foods that help us feel better and think clearer. Thanks for making it a wonderful day, Uncle Leslie! You were awesome!!

Keep the Beet speaks from a plant's point of view
and is a columnist in the international SPACE OF LOVE
Magazine, published in Russia.
She aims to teach kids about biology
and reminds us all that we can regain
our beat with nature through growing
a beet in a pot. She asks us to remember
that we, as well as plants, start from seeds.
Keep the beet recently returned from
Los Angeles where she gave peptalks
to three of Ms Eva Becker's 10th Grade
Science Classes.
Keep the Beet is a licensed cartoon character heading for
Hollywood. Watch for her upcoming radio shows

As the story goes, Keep The Beet became lonely
in the field. There were less and less gardeners
and those interested in keeping the beat of nature.
She decided to speak up and began talking to
Your Enchanted Gardener, another magical character,
the Alter ego of writer Leslie Goldman. Keep the beet
and Your Enchanted Gardener speak the same language.
Keep the Beet
is sponsored by numbers of companies
including Biosmart,

takeout compost friendly containers.

UNCLE SAM MARRIES
AUNTIE GMO
FALL CAMPAIGN 2010-2011 season.
Washington is basically Pro-GMO,
let's face it. We have committed our financial resources
in this direction. There is a bit of balancing that is also
happening with some voices asking for Dialogue between
Science, Ethics, and Food.
In Fall, the Beet Keepers will take the next step
toward initiating this dialogue. Just to be clear
it is also time to not only look at the benefits of
Washington going Pro-GMO, but also
this Seed Dream:
Uncle Sam Marries Auntie GMO.
Where do you stand? Let's talk intelligently
and put the facts on the table. The future will
have experienced 1000 years from now is being
determined by the moves we make now.
I see a a movement of 10 million expressing
the Uncle Sam Marries Auntie GMO point of view.
It's time to clearly see the stakes and be the
stakeholders in a future good for all species.
