The Death of Life in the Gulf Chernobyl is being called
the U.S. Chernobyl. More than 1 million lives were influenced
for the worst there. The forces representing The fprces representing
the corporate model are doing a marvelous job spinning on this one.
Michael Moore, I am sure, is capturing every scene. The broadcasts
on MSNBC are classic now and worth recording.
Marvelous truth telling on MCNBC reporting
what has been called the Earth Day Disaster.

CLASS ACTION SUITS IN THE NEWS
AGAINST BP
CNN
May 4 with Robert Kennedy Jr.
"BP was illegally drilling at a level unpermitted."
Interesting point of view.
When did Obama first speak up???
Michael Brown says Obama did not take quick action
so that he could use this as an excust to shut down
the U.S. Oil industry while China and others are allowed
to continue to drill in the Gulf of Mexico.
"Bush-era FEMA head Michael Brown accused President Obama Monday of "playing politics" with the Gulf Coast oil spill, claiming that Obama waited for the spill to worsen in order to turn public opinion against offshore drilling.
Brown, most infamous for his response to Hurricane Katrina, told Neil Cavuto that Obama and his administration are thrilled by the current disaster in the Gulf. "This is exactly what they want, because now he can pander to the environmentalists and say, 'I'm gonna shut it down because it's too dangerous,'" Brown said. "This president has never supported big oil, he's never supported offshore drilling, and now he has an excuse to shut it back down."
BP was scheduled to have a luncheon to celebrate its safety
record. May 3. However, in light of the Disaster in the Gulf,
the luncheon was cancelled, this Huffington Post story says.
"In a report Sawyer prepared after his review, he said BP's "widespread pattern of unapproved design, testing and inspection documentation on the Atlantis subsea project creates a risk of a catastrophic incident threatening the [Gulf of Mexico] deep-water environment and the safety of platform workers." Moreover, "the extent of documentation discrepancies creates a substantial risk that a catastrophic event could occur at any time."
"The absence of a complete set of final, up-to-date, 'as built' engineering documents, including appropriate engineering approval, introduces substantial risk of large scale damage to the deep water [Gulf of Mexico] environment and harm to workers, primarily because analyses and inspections based on unverified design documents cannot accurately assess risk or suitability for service," Sawyer's report said. He added, "there is no valid engineering justification for these violations and short cuts."
NOTE FROM KT Beet, MS:
Note that this report refers to a project
called "Atlantis," a continent that went
under the sea due to technology failure.
The events, of the Deepwater Rig failure,
epitomize Atlantis, going down again, due to
trusting unsafe erroneous technology in the hands
of human beings. Humans, for the record,
are prone to error. This is how we learn,
from our mistakes.

VENICE, La. (AP) - The government has sent skimmers, booms and other resources to clean up a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that's become far worse than initially thought and threatens the fragile marshlands along the shore, a Coast Guard official said Thursday.
"Companies like Chevron and ConocoPhillips have facilities nearby, and some are hesisitant to criticize BP or the federal government, knowing the oil industry is as much a staple here as the fishermen."

Domestic drilling does the opposite of what Sarah Palin says. It DOES NOT make us more secure or less dependent on foreign oil. It endangers the environment, as witnessed by this accident. This spill is going to deal a crushing blow to the economy.
Every drop of domestic oil is put on the world market, where anyone can buy it. It is not earmarked for domestic use. If we deplete our own oil, doesn't that make us even more dependent on other sources and less secure? 2

In 2006, Salazar voted to end protections that limit offshore oil drilling in Florida's Gulf Coast.[7]
In 2007, Salazar was one of only a handful of Democrats to vote against a bill that would require the United States Army Corps of Engineers to consider global warming when planning water projects.[8]
