I can see my draft on this page,
but I still do not know how to publish it.
I want help from Jue Wang.

I am going down to the press room to see him.

I am still finding frustration
signing in with MOVABLE TYPE
and how to sign in to the Science Blogger site.
I have had some profound experiences and
blogged about them on the PLANT YOUR DREAM BLOG.
I want to go down this morning before my acupuncture
session and speak to JUE WANG
personally about this issue.

The accomplishments of yesterday
opening a dialogue with Monsanto Company
are profound. This is one of the biggest
achievements of my life. I want it notes
other than on my blog site here.

Contest 2010: We're Looking for A Few Good Bloggers
Every year, Science Magazine sends a team of reporters to cover the annual AAAS meeting, one of the most diverse scientific conferences in the world. This February, we'll be in San Diego--and we want your help. For the first time, we're opening up our online coverage to guest bloggers. If you're attending the meeting and have something insightful to say--even if you've never blogged before--we want to hear about it. And if you're really good, you could even win $250 or other prizes (Detailed rules here). See what guest bloggers have posted already.

What we want: Your thoughts, impressions, arguments. What you found fascinating at AAAS sessions, what sparked your interest, and even what you found maddening. We'd like reports of new findings, what they mean, and what the debates in the sessions and hallways are about. Please post your blog entries as soon as possible after the events you cover. And finally, the writing should be geared towards a broad audience: keep the jargon to a minimum, and focus on topics that would interest a diverse readership.

What we don't want: Rants, cut-and-paste jobs from presentations you're giving, or stenography. We don't want a synopsis of the session you just attended or delivered, but rather its surprising, salient points spelled out for a lay audience.

How to sign up: To register as a blogger, please fill out the form below. Email Jue Wang of Science with any questions. He will e-mail you instructions before the meeting.

We look forward to seeing you in San Diego!

Registration Form
If you can't see the form, click here or email: juewang@aaas.org.

Dear Leslie Goldman,

Thank you for registering for the 2010 Science Magazine/AAAS blogging contest! This weekend, we at Science are opening up our news coverage to bloggers attending this year's AAAS meeting in San Diego. We invite you, as a registered blogger, to share your thoughts, impressions, arguments on the AAAS sessions you will attend.

Your entries will be shared with online readers of Science as part of a blog (http://news.sciencemag.org/sciencebloggers/) on our news website. If we and our readers like what you write, you can win a prize. We are awarding the top blogger $250 in cash; two other bloggers will receive prizes as well. You are also invited to say hello at the AAAS social media reception on Friday evening (details here).

Here are some logistical details about the contest, including your blogger account information and a basic primer on our blogging software, Movable Type. Please let us know if we should contact you at a different email. Earlier versions of our registration form left out the "email" field and as a result some email addresses may not be what you provided.

How to blog:
Sign in to our guest blog at http://news.sciencemag.org/cgi-bin/mt/mt.cgi?__mode=dashboard&blog_id=10
using your username lgoldman and password lgoldman3290. You will be taken to a dashboard where you can click "Create Entry" to post something to the blog. Feel free to upload pictures, embed videos, or change the formatting of your entries using the editor and buttons provided. Make sure to click "Save Draft" when you are done.

Note that your entries will not post to the blog instantly--there will be a slight delay as they are vetted for spam and inappropriate content. Almost all of the entries will go up very soon after they are posted.

For more details on how to use the blogging software, check out the official Movable Type blogging guide or email us for help.

When to blog:
The contest blog is now open and ready for your posts, so feel free to log in and poke around. We won't be publishing any entries, however, until the AAAS meeting officially begins on Thursday morning. From then on, you'll have until a day after the conference ends (that is, a day after Feb 22) to submit your entries. However, to keep things fresh, we recommend you post anything tied specifically to a session at most 24 hours after the session takes place.

What to blog:
You're free to write about whatever you found fascinating, fun, or even maddening at the meeting. However, keep in mind that we will be awarding prizes only to blog posts that are the most informative, insightful, and readable by a broad audience. That means keeping your posts relatively concise, and staying clear of scientific jargon.

Additional questions?
Please contact Jue Wang, the blogging coordinator, at juewang@aaas.org. He will respond to you as quickly as he can.

We hope you are as excited about blogging the AAAS meeting as we are. See you at the conference!

Sincerely,
Jue
