It’s not wise to think about the reality of guardian angels without considering who angels are biblical. Images and descriptions of angels in the media, art, and literature often give us a distorted view of these magnificent creatures.

Taking your thoughts captive simply means gaining control over what you think about yourself and life.
What you put in your mind has an effect on what you think. Remember those scary movies you watched as a kid, then had nightmares?

Many believers would answer with something like this: “Well, of course, what God desires is that I pray and read my Bible every day, attend church on Sundays, share the gospel with others and behave myself throughout the week.”

Yes, God desires that we pray fervently and regularly. Yes, studying the Bible daily pleases him and grows us in the faith. Yes, the proclamation of the gospel is essential and urgent.

A sure sign of the error of legalism is misplaced priorities, as we see here with these Pharisees. It is not recorded in Scripture that the Pharisees marveled at the wonderful works of Jesus. They were too busy looking for something to criticize (Mark 3:2). But they marveled at Jesus not washing His hands.
