Giardia and blastocystis were found in a rectal swab. THe 3 antibiotic regimen on badbugs.org did nothing for my symptoms of faiigue, maldigestion, malabsorption.
a. I found this which shows lauric acid (sold as monolaurin) is effective against giardia. If blastocystis has cytoplasm similiar to giardia it should be effective agains blastocystis as well:

Re: Blastocystis hominis

Hi Brancusi,
Have you done a bowel/colon cleanse? If not, you might want to consider it too because Blastocystis hominis can hide in mucoid plaque. This is a substance that can build up in the intestines and makes parasites more difficult to eradicate. I’m currently trying Colosan to do this.
Blastocystis particularly likes grains and I’ve found improvement to IBS by avoiding these (Blastocystis can cause IBS)
I am wondering whether to try Oregano oil for 6 weeks - one of the websites below says it is one of the best treatments but someone told me she found it harsh. Also, som ...

I've used about every non-Rx anti-parasite product made

I’ve used about every non-Rx anti-parasite product on the market; my problem with Blastocystis (showed up in test results, and is what I think is causing the remainder of my worst health problems) simply will not respond.
Badbugs.org has been a big help in sharing stories of other blastocystis sufferers; most of whom did not get well until they used Rx antibiotics specific for the blastocystis. Just about none of those people improved with any non-Rx products, unfortunatly.

Re: Symptoms?
by Juul 16 y
Burping comes a lot together with blastocystis. I’ve read a lot about blastocystis patients and there are a lot of burping symptoms with them.
A blown air belly and farting is also a typically blastocystis symptom. Apparently it’ll consume the food (especially carbohydrate and sugars) and a waste product is gas, at least I think this is the cause.
Burping would be worse after eating, especially with the above mentioned ingredients.

Hi,
I am rather new here. I suffer from a systemic parasite infection. For four yrs I had explosive ”d”, candida albicans, high eosinophils in stool, charcot leyden crystals, blastocystis hominis. The blastocystis drove me to listen to a holistic MD and took herbs. My gut was very leaky and the herbs made the parasites go to my extremities. Plus, I had steroid use because my GI thought I had colitis.
I am afraid I contaminated my family with this systemic infection. I have positive tests for toxoplasmosis, trichinella, and blastocystis. I feel at my wits end and do not know how t ...

There is no such thing as a harmless parasite.
I am glad some of you found relief by eradication of your parasites. To believe that Blastocystis, Endolimax, or other parasites are harmless is foolish and defies common sense. Sure E. histolytica and other parasites are more virulent and actively harmful but Blasto is still having a PARASITE in your body. It is like having sand in your eye instead of glass or a benign tumor instead of a malignant one. But it is still something that should not be in your body and if left there long enough will cause problems. So called harmless parasites ...

Animal to human transmissions
by linenup 14 y
These are worm based herbs, if you have protozoa they will likely be ineffective.
In your previous post, I believe that you mentioned cats, here is an article about transmission of some parasites. Please note that not all parasites get crossed e.g. some are specific to cats, dogs, humans etc. But it is quite interesting that majority of cross contamination are protozoa. These would include blastocystis hominis, giardia intestinalis, isospora. Toxoplasmosis is a common transmission from cats, but as far as I know, they are not residents of the GI tract.

From what I’ve been told by a variety of doctors and specialists, Blastocystis is an asymptomatic companion parasite. Most doctors believe it doesn’t cause symptoms and will go away once the other parasites are gone, due to it being a weak parasite. I also had several parasites, and my doctors believed it was best to do the opposite of your current plan. Treat everything else first, and then Blasto should leave.

Came back positive for these with pcr stoll test that was missed by other labs. Also not sure why the test didn’t check for some helminths like nematodes and flukes so waiting to hear from the lab on that.

Drugs of choice for blastocystis hominis are metronidazole (flagyl) or iodoquinol.
Acid reflux is a symptom of low stomach acid. Standard cure is apple cider vinegar in water at meals. You can also take HCL capsules if your meal has protein.

My feeling is that this is not a virus but some sort of super bug like blastocystis hominis (which I do have in high numbers) or some sort of fungus, mycoplasma or something of that sort. I’ve noticed that whatever it is exists outside and inside the human body and multiplies in number constantly on inanimate objects.
