Re: Post removal bloating?
hi, short answer, yes, it is more than likely that your body is trying to rebalance itself after having had the mirena for such a long time. Try drinking chamomile tea to soothe your stomach. Also fennel tea is good (made from fennel seeds), and peppermint tea - but only take peppermint after food, not on an empty stomach. Also you could try taking some pro biotics in the form of natural live plain yoghurt or capsules - take them on an empty stomach with water. Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol where you can, keeping the rest of your diet full of foods which are fresh and healthy to aid your body back to health. Do just gentle excersice to keep yourself active, like walking, rather than major work outs at a gym:) Also, if you are still having problems after a few more days, avoid foods which may make the situation worse for a little while - foods containing mushrooms, and yeast like bread, and foods containing
Sugar are the worst. You could try taking evening primrose and B vitamins to help your hormones get back to normal. Also fish oils are good, and olive oil - obviously you can eat those in your food, you dont need to buy capsules of those ones.
Hopefully though, you should find that you will start to settle down within a few weeks, if not before. What you are experiencing now is what many women experience as a side effect of the mirena while it is inside them! However, it all depends on how your hormones function, we are all different. What often happens is that after a long time of your body having too much of one type of hormone (not that mirena gives us a hormone, it is a chemical lookielikie which seems to act differently in the system compared to natural progesterone) , then that hormone is suddenly taken away - the body immediately starts to try to put things right again. For example i had hot flushes for 4 days after removal, and with my 2 periods since, i have also had hot flushes, which is my body over producing oestrogen to compensate for having too much progesterone with mirena. It seems to take 3 - 4 months to get rid of the chemical properly and for the body to settle down, so do stay with it. I do hope you are feeling better soon:) x
