Using the IP addresses does not work. Some people did report this but it did seem to work for me initially. However now it does not.

There is a work around. Only 80.82.77.83 is currently working for me, 80.82.77.84 never completes loading. Using the IP address can load the page but does not allow the loading of any articles so is pretty much useless. I do not know the IPv6 version as my router does not support it. Therefore you might have to work out a conversion.

If you use the hosts file and setup an entry for the working IP and URL sci-hub.bz it then works successfully.

I have the following line added to my hosts file:
80.82.77.83 sci-hub.bz
Articles can then be accessed successfully by using http://sci-hub.bz/

BTW. Editing the hosts file needs to be done with Administrator privileges. I suggest making a backup before making any alterations. Bluelife Hosts Editor free to use can do all of this and prompts for admin rights when run. It can also flush the DNS cache and can perform backups and restores so does multiple things to get everything working. Tweet
