Re: Sweden Recommends Low-Carb, High Fat Diet.

There was just a huge long-term study that showed that diets high in protein greatly increase the risk of death from heart attacks, cancer and other diseases. In fact, this study showed that the higher the intake of protein, the higher the risk of death.

Yes, those studies from years ago that said a low-fat diet is good for health were completely false. In fact the reason the low-fat diet (especially low-saturated fat) were promoted were more based on the opinions of a few doctors that had a lot of political sway. There was never any Science behind it. Saturated fat is perfectly healthy and it seems much more healthy than any other kinds of fat. However, this by no means proves that animal flesh is an optimal foods for humans. In fact, the over-consumption of animal flesh is one of the worst things you can do for long term health. It is a fact that animal flesh is one of the most taxing items for the body to digest and use for energy. Since you are posting this in the adrenal fatigue debate forum, let's think about what the effect is when you have adrenal fatigue and you are eating a diet high in animal flesh. When you have adrenal fatigue, the entire system is taxed, digestive capacity is very low. You consume animal flesh which needs large amounts of stomach acid to be broken down to a molecular level that can be absorbed by the body. Since digestion is extremely impaired, much of the animal flesh will end up completely undigested and unusable by the body. Even the amount that the body can digest, what can it do with it? People with adrenal fatigue need substances which can easily be turned into energy. And while it is true that the saturated fat in animal sources can be used immediately and easily for energy, the protein is the most inefficient source of energy for the human body. Since it is difficult to digest, small undigested pieces can sit and petrify in the intestine, especially if these is a lack of dietary fiber in the diet. We don't know what the effect of ingesting animal matter that contains hormones that are similar to human hormones that may interrupt our own hormone function.

Animal flesh is a good source of protein and helps the body to build muscle but should by no means be the main source of fuel for the human body. Low-carb diets are inherently high in animal flesh and extremely unhealthy, especially long-term.
