Re: Do we know what sin is?

thats not what the bible says.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

we have to own up to them.

what did john the baptist preach? repent.

what did jesus preach? repent.

what does repent mean? its a literal changing of the mind, a metamorphosis if you will. the greek word is metanoia.

Proverbs 28:13
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

what was adams sin? was it disobedience? lets look at gods word again.

Job 31:33
If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:

1 Timothy 2:14
And Adam was not deceived,

asking god for forgiveness is unbelief because he already has. jesus dies for the sins of the whole world, past present and future. sin is no longer the issue.

you dont receive the gift by asking for it. you receive it by confessing.

you must first believe you are wrong in order to confess.

Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.

this cant be faked. in fact, faking (hiding) is the original problem. once you reverse that trend you are on the path.
