Insipid Appendicitis?

Hi MH:

My son is 13 years old and may have appendicitis. He will be seen by his doctor on Saturday AM. His pain comes and goes. His school nurse says she believes its an insipid appendicitis.

If it is his appendice, do they try to antibiotics first? I am trying to avoid surgery. Is there a natural substitute for the antibiotics? What kind of food and drinks should he avoid in the meantime?

My son has asthma and acid reflux. He is not on meds for them. He does use the pump occasionally when playing sports.
