Re: Yes
"I don't either. This is one doctrine that has been in the christian churches that I believe has done more damage than they anyone could know. Will enough people truly study this and start taking a stand to make a change? I hope so, and soon."
that made my day so far.
"Christ is life, and I believe either you are either in Him, or you are not. Is this what you believe?"
yes, that is what i believe. but i do not find that it is necessary to be "in christ" in order to be saved. many are called but few are chosen. i believe that both are "saved" but only the chosen are "in christ". look at all the things jesus did. we can do them. that includes calling out our own disciples. we can truly forgive sins. choose carefully though, because the lord does not cotton to reneging, even if it looks later like a mistake. thats part of what peter was talking about being sure of your election. authority is not something thats given to a child but to someone who is of the proper character.
"This I don't believe. You read the scriptures. It says over and over Christ is the only way to God, and therefore, to paradise. Where does it say anything else?"
you havent been reading that aramaic bible, have ya? lol
i dont think abraham was a christian.
Mark 12:26-27
26And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
nobody is walking around on this earth and "saved". its a future milestone, although sure if you dont give up.
Matthew 10:22
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Matthew 24:13
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mark 13:13
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
belief of one saves many.
Acts 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
not only was jesus very anti- organized religion, but paul points out that conforming to a dogma is not necessary, or even desirable.
{sidebar - since god is totally unique and we are made in his image after his likeness, we are all unique, which makes conforming to others or the world a death sentence in fact, god honors our unique choices: Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.}
also, another case of one saving another. if in a marriage the two are one then how can one be saved without the other coming with?
1 Corinthians 7:15-17 (King James Version)
15But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
16For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?
17But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.
this one really clinches it. what is a righteous mans reward? or a prophets? or a disciples, if not eternal life???? and how can anyone receive a reward if theyre dead?
Matthew 10:40-42 (King James Version)
40He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
41He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
42And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
all who are in christ shall be saved but not all who shall be saved are in christ. the lord has his people in every time and every culture and every religion. i would recognize them, wouldnt you?
