Ladies, who put your Mirena in? I am fortunate to be married to an MD who could do it for me - makes sense, because he really knows my anatomy. Even so, he carefully measured my uterus with a sound both times he put Mirena in.(I've had 2 over the course of 10 years, the best years of my life, because I became period-free after the first few horrible months with mood swings, sore and swollen breasts, acne, etc. which hubby warned me to expect)The dr. has to know exactly how deep the uterus is and then gently insert Mirena to exactly the measured depth before removing the tube. Hubby pulled the second Mirena out the other night, because it had been in for 5 years. I didn't feel anything. At almost 48, I need to find out whether I am now menopausal. waiting to see if my period comes back. I hope not! I became quite attached to my Mirena.(Fortunately it did not become attached to me!) I cannot believe what you had to go through by getting it surgically removed. really, a doctor just has to be thorough and gentle. Side-effects will vary from person to person. If it's not for you, get it out.
