I recently developed a thyroid problem and I started eating a small handful of dried seaweed twice a day for the Iodine it contains. Wow. That stuff gets into your body and swells up and works thru your body & gives you giant (and I do mean giant) bm's the next morning. Plus it is full of minerals - some 30x more minerals than in land food. If you are careful where you purchase it, there is no threat of contamination. And it doesn't clog you like psyllium does. I can't tolerate psyllium. You do need to drink a lot of water tho. Only thing is that I notice a lot of little pieces of the seaweed in my stool - not fully digested - which makes me wonder how much Iodine I am getting from it. Maybe I'm just not chewing it well enough. I'm eating dulce and sea lettuce. (dulse actually tastes good - for a seaweed).
