Patricia Kaminski, author, co-creator of Flower Essence Services,
epitomizes Heart and Soul in the Natural Products Industry.
I will see her again at Natural Products Expo West '07,
March 8-11.

The Natural Product Expo West (NPEW)
is the most Glorious Display of Power
that the Natural Product Industry expresses
in So Cal each year.
The Show fills the whole Anaheim Convention Center,
at least six or more halls.
The show is put out by the very good people
of New Hope Natural Media/Penton.
I love this show.
It is a highlight of the year for
Your Enchanted Gardener.
I first came in with a Press Pass many years
ago through my friendship with Kate Lawrence
who was the President then of this show for
New Hope Natural Media. I would bring her
little tokens of appreciation, knowing she
was the Queen and I her Enchanted Gardener.
I would bring her locally grown foods from
San Diego, grown by my farmers. I would bring
the Show Plant to the Office with Blessing
for a Great, Great Show. Then some of the little
herbs made it back to Boulder, Colo, the home
of New Hope.
Some years, I would leave one of my poems
for Kate. One year she wrote me a note that
the poem brought her to tears. Being a show
director and taking a moment to feel feelings
is a good thing.
I have grown up a lot with this Expo.

One year, I was on crutches.
I had Hip Replacements not long before.
I wanted to go to the Organic Trade Association (OTA)
Reception, a gala feast where the CEO's of our Industry
get together and present a check to help this tremendous
organization that works to uphold organic standards. OTA
plays the political arena well for us.
I was weary and tired that night.
I was leaning up against a table outside the Reception.
I really wanted to go inside, but did not feel comfortable
with the $75.00 tab.
A lovely woman came up to me.
She said hello. I told her
I was waiting for a friend to offer me a ticket.
She became that friend.
It turned out she was the Co-chair for the Reception,
the female head of the yearly fundraising campaign.
years passed.
I no longer go to that Reception on cruthes.
I go with my Olympus 5050.
For a number of years I have been the photographer
for the Reception.
It is a good relationship.
It offers me an opportunity to take photos
of some of the great heart and soul people
of in the Natural Product Industry.

During my time creation relationship
with NPEW and OTA, I got to know
the Director of Publications for New Hope,
Karen Raterman.
I would bring her a Thyme plant each year.
She said, that the gift of more 'Thyme"
was one of the precious things I could give her.
I became an unofficial Ambassador for New Hope,
seeking out Heart and Soul in the Natural Products
Industry.
I have turned in a number of stories to
The Natural Food Merchandiser, one of the Industry
publications.

on this Plant Your Dream Blog.
The Natural Food Industry is growing by leaps and bounds.
It is one of the fastest industries growing
in the world that basically is about wanting to improve
the lives of people.
With fast growth, comes a need for education.
I am at the Natural Produce Expo West to be a reminder,
that Heart and Soul belongs as a driving force
behind what we do.
This year, I will be offering the Enchanted Garden
Seal of Good Housekeeping, a Special Award,
to Heart and Soul members of our Industry.
I will be given Job's Tears and a special
Plant Parenthood Adoption Certificate.
Plants are great mentors.
They remind us of the Laws of Nature.
They mind us of the rules that allow
dreams to grow naturally,
organically.

An ambassador of Heart and Soul, Leslie's influence
is expressed through poetry that inspires intimacy
and photo images that record the history of Peace on Earth.
Leslie was given a U.N. Peace Medal in 1982
for the work he would do in his life.
His mission is growing the Enchanted Garden, a name for our Renewed Earth
that he encourages each of us to plant with heirloom organic seeds
and fragrant herbs growing in harmony with our deepest seed dreams.
