Date: 12/2/2006 4:51:39 AM ( 18 y ) ... viewed 2336 times It's now the 13th day I've gone withouts solid food and I'm feeling great, pure zen.
The hunger pangs are gone and my body is using up it's reserves, the way we were meant to live in times of scarcity. I've read that most humans in the western world have never experienced 'true' hunger, just hunger 'pangs' which aren't really calls for food but for water. I'm really looking forward to developing that deeper connection with my body, to understand when it really wants nourishment and how it will communicate that to my brain. This, corny as it has always sounded to me, is truly a 'journey'!!
Since my preoccupation with food has left, I focus my attention on others things, be they books, cinema, music or upgrading my education. This is truly freedom, freedom from the clutches and effects of food. Just like any drug, I had a 'withdrawal' period and am still going through it somewhat when I experience mini-pangs of hunger lasting, on average, 20 seconds.
I enjoy those hunger pangs actually, the way I feel them entering my stomach, zipping around, then leaving. I'm also becoming increasingly amazed with how my body is processing all the accumulated waste and eliminating it.
Onwards and upwards, we'll see how long this lasts. For the first time ever, I feel like I'm making some progress both physically and spiritually.
