Successful Raw Day Smells and the senses in general
Used to be only chocolate could do that for me....
Date: 1/29/2006 5:17:44 PM ( 18 y ) ... viewed 2938 times Attended a potluck dinner today and I prepared several raw dishes...they went over fairly well...several people asked for recipes...particulary for the two desserts that I took.
I never did say that they were raw dishes...however when I told how to make...two ladies were really impressed that there was no cooking involved...although one didn't quite believe that the "cake" required no baking....
Best of all though, with my own live food to choose from, I didn't have to be tempted by all this dead stuff. Avoiding the meat is easy...but when strictly vegetarian, its hard to eat at something at like this...people season with meat here...too many times I have bitten into something and only then realized it had pork in it somewhere..
It was good that I took several things today also....there was only one dish on of the entire selection of cooked foods that I would have eaten as a vegetarian....someone made a three bean salad. Out of probably 50 dishes...only one that did not have meat in some form or fashion...(not counting assorted breads and desserts..but someone always brings these fancy jello creations...and thats meat. NOT LOL)
The thing is now, and it has happened much quicker this time....when I went raw before after a few months and now in only a few days...
I can SMELL EVERYTHING....LOL....all those meat dishes people brought to the potluck...I was initially helping serve and I had to step away from the island....I could not take those smells....and people were talking about how good things smell...and to me, the smell was not far from driving past roadkill....mingled with tons of strong spices and condiments of course....
I believe that is why we use so much seasoning in cooked foods....to make it appear reasonably palatable...but now...it is not even that.
On the positive side of that....I LOVE how good fresh foods taste and smell....I had a Meg Ryan moment in the produce section the other day over fresh nectarines...there was a man standing across the aisle watching me SNIFF nectarines with a smile on my face as I made my selection....he was GRINNING when I opened my eyes...LOL...what could I say..."I just love fresh fruit, don't you?"
And when I throw some things in the blender and make my own salsa, or dressing, sauce of some type....the smell is just heavenly and then a taste to adjust the flavor...practically orgasmic....used to be only chocolate could do that for me...LOL
I have now lost 2.4 pounds since going back 100% raw...YAY! And I realized just now while reading another blog...I haven't taken my evening primrose, DLPA, SAMe, vitamin E etc since friday and not only do I feel great, not depressed or moody...
I started my period this morning; (TMI, I know, I know....LOL) and having endometriosis, this is usually a BAD thing...but no bloating, no pain, no cramps...very easy today...before raw...that is a bed, heating pad and painkiller event EVERY month for two-three days.
