I'm Claiming MY GOOD

Ode to Roomie. He's a good choice. Communal Cooperation. Harmony

Time to check in again, with myself through you.

I have a roommate who is young, male and very enrolling! kinda cool. I am enjoying getting to know him, and by virtue of sharing space we have begun to spend some concentrated time together.

I've just noticed that he cleans up after me. This just tickles me, because I have 2 grown children that I picked up after for many years..and a husband. Enough said.

Now I am the child and he assuming the parental role..and he is young. Ha Ha! Second childhoods are radical!

I love and enjoy the rich irony. Now he cooks (not because of me, he enjoys it) and he straightens up, does household projects that I may ask for or want~ Others that he wants. This is his "cooperation" gathering strategy...and it's a damned good one. I am having fun learning to read the motivational magic that he sprouts for common comfort.

Very interesting this. This is the FIRST time I have lived with a male that was not my husband (and there have only been one of those) Once I had a dear friend that continually tried to arrange some communal living...but he had 3 children and althoug I loved him, wasn't up for the child caretaking that would be contained in that communal living situation. Especially since I had just raised my own around that time frame. In other words I wanted time to myself.

Now there has been a shift...Interesting to note this. It snuck up on me...or unfolded gently. It is a good thing, I think. Regardless of my opnion~it is what is. I am getting trained, whether I like it or not, fortunately I like it...what struck me as hilarious was I didn't really "notice" that I was being trained~so skillful and gentle is he. I can learn from him, this younger person of the opposite sex...He is smooth and gentle in his bid for cooperation and results.

The kicker was, I noticed the tub was getting a ring around it due a slow drain...(PS we have a houskeeper, Blanca, that comes in to clean every 2 weeks) I realized Blanca was not due for another week-and here the tub was "ringing" ~ I swept some water around the perimeter, rather hit or miss..and left. When I got home late that night, I noticed the tub was sparkling...he had cleaned it. This is such a treat, I laughed out loud. This gesture alone, commanded such appreciation and loyalty-that I can see we will start a little support system for each other. He also mops up my coffee spills in the kitchen when I try to walk through with an overfilled cup-

He is neat. I am neat but not as neat as he. He never complains or picks at me...Maybe that is next, who knows~ but I am inclined not to think so.

I really like my roommate, he is a very nice guy. Yipeee a good choice! I'm still coming to mental grips with having a roommate and now I find out I really appreciate him. Life is very fluid right now...
