Eco Art:Collage Faces
I had so much fun last month taking an art class, that I'm taking a new series this month of June of four more classes in mixed media art.
Date: 6/10/2017 4:31:52 AM ( 7 y ) ... viewed 1751 times The first class focused on making a collage art journal using images from magazines, drawings, paint, and whatever else one wants to add to them. There are 230 4" x 6" pages in the small bound notebook the instructor gave each of us! In 6 hours of work, I managed to finish only 14 pages. These two pages are from the journal I am working on; I decided to remove them and make cards out of them. The one on the left is in tribute to Frida Kahlo, one of my favorite artists. The one on the right is a birthday card for a relative. The journal pages are glued onto art paper, put through a thread-less sewing machine to punch the holes, then hand embroidered.
I'm not much into drawing faces, but these were fun to make. Start out by drawing an oval shape with a pen for the face, and then add bits and pieces of ripped paper from magazine images to make the features. Add a bit of definition with an ink pen, then add color with a bit of paint dabbed onto the paper with a small piece of wadded up paper towel.
