I want to share with you inspirations from my Campaign to Grow A Healthier Pizza, a mandate for Food Reform. Getting rid of GMOs in our Food Supply is one of my passions. Without Food Reform we will continue on a downward slope of ill health and poorly preparing the next generation for the task at hand, the renewal of the very foundation of our nation.
The National Heirloom Expo, an annual event held each year in Santa Rosa, CA, is a convergence of those who aspire to live in the kind of relationship to earth that nature had in mind. It is a gathering of Real Food Seed Freedom enthusiasts.
D.H. Lawrence, in Studies in Classical American Literature, said, "This is the true myth of America. She starts old, old, wrinkled and writhing in an old skin. And there is a gradual sloughing off of the old skin, towards a new youth. It is the myth of America."

The second day of the National Heirloom Expo brings busloads of school age youth. I talked about Growing A Healthier Pizza. We did an activity with Pizza Boxes. I gave away Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds a gift from the Expo organizer. The show is called the World’s Fair of Pure food.
A focus of the Expo is to encourage school gardens.

WHAT DO I MEAN BY UNCLE SAM MARRIES "ANTI" GMO?
There is a wedding up ahead if the United States is to regain its foothold on the original vision of our nation. The original vision included being a nation of gardeners and farmers. We have strayed far. We can regain our foothold and "Outgrow GMOs" through more of us regaining the know how to grow our own food.

WHERE OUR GOVERNMENT IS NOW
Government appears to listen to the "Moneybags" who benefit most from seeds and foods that are standardized for commercial gain. The definition of Food Safety for many is making Food Safe for those with the "Moneybags."
in 2011,The Campaign to Grow A Healthier Pizza began with Congress moved to define Pizza as a vegetable. My dream is that Washington will come around to seeing that GMOs in our food supply are not good for us as a nation. GMO proliferation is a symptom of our estrangement from nature and not knowing the nature of our soul.
Uncle Sam, initials U.S., is the personification of our Government. The US Government is currently in the farm bed with Biotechnology. Uncle Sam is committed to a path of Technology that is served best by having people’s dreams stuck in symbolic Pizza Boxes. We are the equivalent of a piece of pizza in a box, feeding appetites with food and buying into a system that has no foundation in nature and little technology that can compare to Nature’s Original Technology. Nature's Original Technology represents a marriage of Soul and nature, encourages individual dreams and brings the best out of each person. Each person's task is to take our Sacred Seeds out of the symbolic Pizza Box and Plant your Dream.

I am in favor of Labeling GMOs and having the Right to Know what is in our food. I feel that the Right to Know and the Know how to grow our own food go hand in hand. I see it as inevitable that we will Label GMOs, but will we end up closer to “Outgrowing GMOs?”
I believe a shift in consciousness is being asked of us as individuals. Food reform will come as we return to becoming a nation of eminent small gardeners who have shifted our own consciousness and healed our estrangement from nature.
I see a grassroots movement, made up of individuals living their dreams as a pre-requisite to influencing the consciousness of Washington. A marriage is needed that begins with us, inside us. I am speaking of a marriage between the soul--our essence-- and nature. Because there would be so many of us in touch with the beat of nature we would eventually create a groundswell that would touch Washington.

A GRASS ROOTS MOVEMENT REQUIRES CULTIVATION
GMOs are a symptom of a disconnection, a loss of soul connected to nature. My hope is that the connection will be made that true cultivation of our Grassroots movement begins with growing Heirloom Seeds. It is here where the roots of our grassroots movement will become grounded.
The kind of grassroots movement we need to outgrow GMOs will benefit from a gardening tool in hand. The invitation to the wedding goes out to all who grow Heirloom Seeds. Growing some ancient grain of wheat is also a good place to begin.

I have been working on this story for a few days. I am having health concerns at the same time, and questioning how how good an idea it is to take on this writing project. I went a kidney specialist the other day. He saw a number of stones in my right kidney. I want to come to terms with the pressures in my life that creates these stones in the first place. One of the big pressures I feel now is committing to do the National Heirloom Expo, September 9-10-11 in Santa Rosa, CA. I have been a teacher there the last two years. Last summer I had a kidney stone as well. I needed a procedure to remove it. There was a lot of pain. It was moving down the ureter. This year, the stones are in the kidneys. The pain I am feeling, according the specialist is not related to the stones. I find this difficult to believe. I have low back pain on each side in the area I associate with kidneys. I also have pain in my left and right flank that seems to come and go as I various emotions intensify.
I am feeling a great pressure now about my future. I am challenging myself at 66 to go to this show. It is one of the niche venues where my tribe comes together. I want to encourage you to attend the National Heirloom Expo. It is an important gathering of some of the finest Real Food Seed Freedom Heroes.

I am going to proceed with writing, and editing this, as and do preparations to go.
It feels very challenging not to go and brings up fear. It is also challenges not to go.
I have a number of counselors who advise me to slow down.
I definitely need to manage the pressures in my life differently.
The date to do the procedure on the kidneys as not been set. There are questions of Medicare Insurance and authorization. There is also the big question of diagnosing the cause of the other pains I am feeling.
There is pressure involved with committing to do the show and they not being able to do it.
It always feels better to write out my feelings. I will do more of that as I edit this final version of the Article. One step at a time.

An awakening is needed. There was already a perfect technology that goes with successful living on Planet Earth. It is called Nature's Original Technology.
Nature’s Original Technology is supreme. We can no longer allow disabling Technologies to supplant what nature had in mind. Our future on this earth is no longer guaranteed due to the natural cycles of evolution as well as lifestyle practices that are now in the driver’s seat of our soul’s existence.
Dr. Bernard Jensen often said, "We cannot break the natural Laws. We break ourselves on the Law."
No matter how many days or years this planet we each have, let us get engaged now upholding the Soul inspired values that nature had in mind.

"Eminence"--in my definition means having soul in the driver's seat of our lives. Eminence comes from feeling we are the King in our own life. Gardening, and what it teaches about the self, is one of the clearest ways to create eminence.

What do I mean by Sacred Seeds?
The Seed is a metaphor for the Soul.

This is the story, a retelling of the Zarathustra Myth of the King who lost his crown.
Once Upon a Time, a King and Queen lost their crown.
They sought answers everywhere. They could not find them.
An Enchanted Gardener gave them a simple seed of Ancient Wheat that he kept in a package inside the Pizza Box.
He told them that inside that seed, and the Box were all the answers to the problems in their world.

In this article I want to express my deepest appreciation to Jere Gettle of the Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company and Paul Wallace of the Petaluma Seed Bank for their inspiration and work putting on the Fourth Annual World's Pure Food Fair.
Each year at the Sonoma Fairgrounds our Sacred Seed Tribe Gathers. Al Jolson sang a song with the words. "I would walk a million miles for one of your smiles!"
That is why I make the effort to be a part of this event each year. Each day we have an opportunity to live on this earth is a blessing. I truly am not sure how many more years we have living the way we do now without making essential shifts.
The Heirloom seeds and ancient grains can be our teachers. I want to be doing something Sacred on my last day. Helping grow out a seed or two from the Baker Creek Rare Seed Collection and Ancient Kamut® Khorasan wheat are two acts that give my life meaning. I say these words and invite you to say these words when you plant a Seed and Your Soul Purpose:
