First Harvest of Ancient Wheat Grain of KAMUT® June 12, 2013
Today is Wednesday, June 12. I spent the morning working with the
clipped ancient grain harvest of Kamut® that was prematurely cut last Sunday by mistake. I intended to enter this Kamut in the Produce Contest at the San Diego Country Fair later in the month, but will go to the fair this Saturday, June 15.

Handful of healthy Ancient grain of wheat called KAMUT® Khorasan wheat harvested Sunday from the Tower Garden, was shucked today.
I have been feeling lonely for myself. I have been missing the Garden Mystic. I did not realize I was lonely for myself until I took the morning to set up all the Ancient Wheat Grains that were cut from the Tower Garden into vases.
In part I did this in preparation of the Produce Contest this Saturday June 15 at the San Diego County Fair, but my experience with the ancient wheat of KAMUT® when deeper. It was Soul Recovery work.
Overcast morning, perfect weather for this today
Today was perfect weather for working with the Ancient Grains called KAMUT® Khorasan wheat. These have been growing for more than four months in the Aquaponic Tower Garden system outside the front porch. More than 1/2 the crop, that I was enjoying going to seed were prematurely cut by a housemate on Sunday. The grains were taking over the porch area, truly they were in command. Somehow, my housemate looked at them, and thought he would create order without asking me and without recognizing how important the growing grains were to me. Monsanto could not have done a better job. I turned the situation around by taking responsibility. I felt I had not adequately explained my experiences in the Tower Garden. Monday, we spent about 45 minutes making videos. I explained why I was growing the seeds. He got it. He also harvested some seeds with me. It sunk in. He then understood how a plant could teach us powerful life lessons about creation.
The ones that were closest to ripe, he thought were looking unsightly and so cut them. He did not understand, as most people would never imagine, that from one seed grows a multitude of seeds.
Luckily numbers of the grains, that were still green remained in the Tower Garden.
My goal for this project is to grow a healthier loaf of bread, a project of the Campaign to Grow A Healthier Pizza. Aside from the small stand of wheat growing in the Tower Garden and in Wine Barrels and smaller pots here, there are two very special stands of KAMUT® that are now growing in Tecate, right across the border.
The Root System of the Kamut® growing in the Tower Garden was very strong and long.
Toward the end of my learning session today with the KAMUT®, I asked Nadine, my partner, to help pull one of the cut gain stalks out of the Tower Garden. At first she said it would not budge. I asked her to persist. What came forth was an enormous root structure that was more than ten inches long.
Some of the roots still had some green attached. This brought up another question. Was it possible for the Kamut® to keep growing? Would it be a perennial Plant?
I am going to look that up now.
