The 2007 REL/CFO Cash Masters Scorecard ranks the 1,000
largest public companies headquartered in the United States by
cash conversion efficiency—cash flow from operations divided by
sales—based on publicly available year-end results for fiscal 2006.
The top three and bottom three performers in 25 industries are
shown here. The industries are defined by the Global Industry
Classification Standard, a Standard & Poor’s classification that
enables global comparisons by industry.
The data source for public information is Capital IQ. The
metrics analyzed for the scorecard are calculated from year-end
results for fiscal 2006. They include sales, cost of goods sold,
SG&A expense, cash flow from operations, cash balance on the
balance sheet, trade receivables, payables (excluding accruals,
deferred income, and other cash and cash equivalents), inventory,
total debt, and total equity. The data has been adjusted to
reflect the impact of off-balance-sheet arrangements in order to
provide true, consistent, and comparable figures.
The complete Cash Masters Scorecard, featuring threeyear
performance data for all 1,000 companies, in 57 industries,
can be found at www. cfo. com/cashmasters.
