I went to a concert last night. Afterwards, there was a reception. I looked at the food table briefly, then moved on. All they had was grocery store bakery plain cookies with fancy icing, and a bowl of punch. I wasn't tempted in the least by the cookies or punch - I don't even like those things.
Someone standing nearby saw me take a look and then move on. They asked me, through a mouthful of cookie, "Are you on a diet?!?"
I think this was meant in that "if you are on a diet, you don't need to be, because you are a good body weight" way. But good grief! I didn't eat cookies, so I'm on a diet? PLEASE!!!!
Nobody should have eaten those lousy cookies or the nasty punch (which I later found out had been made using diet gingerale and white grape juice. Ew.).
I don't even know what to think, it was just a perplexing situation.

Yes, I know what you mean, I have seen this happen more than once...
Most people do not get it!! HUH!! One of the main problems is that most people do not realize we are all on a diet the; Question is what kind of diet??
It seems that most people do not like to think for themselves... They just follow the group and eat, wear, drive, listen to what ever the main line products are putting out... Oh well I doubt that we will change it, but at least we try to get them to think!!
