Blog: Drinking the Living Water
Well, I've been on curezone a while and figured I should start my own blog regarding my journey through juice fasting. I've greatly benefited from reading about other's journeys.
Background: Married, stay at home/homeschooling mom of one 7 yr. old boy. We also have a precious 18 month old baby girl, who just weaned after 18 months of valuable nursing. Raised in the world of natural health, homeopathic medicine, etc.
I am currently on day 16 of a 60 day (maybe longer) juice fast. My longest fast was three years ago and it lasted 145 days. (Disclaimer:I don't reccommend anyone do a fast this long unless they have completely researched juice fasting, know much about how your body works through natural health AND have the assistance of a natural health professional or someone who is well versed in juice fasting)
That aside, this long fast restored me to a health I don't think I'd ever experienced before and I was by normal standards, a healthy person before this (although I was overweight). My mental clarity was amazing, my energy through the roof, and I slept like a rock! Yes, the first days were very tough, but you get over those and start really feeling the benefits and get to know your body so well. After all it was my body that told me we were done with the fast when one day, I suddenly became hungry again. That was it for my fast. :) It was an experience I'd do over and over agian, which is why I'm doing it again.
Fasting is as much spiritual as anything to me. It's a very humbling experience and gives me more time to focus on God, prayer and reading of His Word. I am a Christian, in case you couldn't tell by my user name. :) I believe fasting is something I am called to do, when life gets all out of control both healthwise and in my relationship with God, fasting helps to center me. I don't know if it's true with everyone, but definetely true for me. I also see God reveal much to me (usually things I need to work on) while I fast. Perhaps, it's because my body and mind are less chaotic and more focused.
The last three years have been rough. I went to Bible College (gained a lovely 15 pounds there), got pregnant with our daughter, found out that pregnancy causes my thyroid to virtually stop working (which caused 3 miscarriages in the past), developed fibroid tumors, was on 5 different antibiotics during that pregnancy, gained more weight during pregnancy (until my thyroid was leveled out and then I stopped gaining), gave birth ( a healthy 9 pounder) and gained more weight (thyroid still going wacko AND lack of discipline) and now Im at the end result of three years of pure body torture.
My fibroid tumors have probably come back as I am starting to experience symptoms, again. My mother has a long history of dealing with these (not a good last 15 years) and soooooo.... I was waiting for my daughter to wean before I began this fast and the time came! I was so ready to begin restoring my body again. I practically craved fasting. So, anyway, here I am on day 16, experiencing a grooling detox (but I knew it was going to happen) but full of energy and vitality!
I'll be updating as time goes by. Best of health to you!

- sugar in juice by ALKALIZINGKATIE

This is a great testimony. I have been wondering about your username, I am a Christian as well and the Lord is leading me to complete healing through prayer and fasting. This is so exciting!! But I am not doing strict juice fasting, I am being called to do juice and more raw foods, and of course no junk/sugar...
Can you tell me what an average day of juicing you did? Most say fruit juice till noon, veggie juice the rest of the day. I am struggling with the whole "sugar" issue. I think as long as it is fresh and not excessive, the Lord put enzymes in food so we can have them. I would love to hear an opinion from a long term juicer!
Thanks
Katie

Yes, I'm a Christian and the name is sort of symbolic to where I was at when I started the fast. Feeling a little spiritually empty and seeking direction. Also in need of healing and weightloss. So, I went with the only name I knew could fill me (and describe where I was at and what was important to me), Living Water, who is Christ Jesus. :)
My typical day of fasting was 8 to 16 oz. of fruit juice in the a.m. (about 10am), then veggie juice, usually carrot around 2pm-3pm and veggie or fruit (depending on mood) around 6pm. I drank water throughout the day and would sometimes have tea at various times of the day. Oh and for the first half of my fast I drank 1 oz. of wheatgrass everyday.
I've heard people say that if you struggle with candidias, you shouldn't do fruit, but I have always fasted on fruit juice and the only juice that makes candidias act up for me is OJ. So, I don't do OJ. I also bulk up on the probiotics after the fast to help get some good bacteria in there. :)
I hope you're doing well and feeling great! Hoping to be joining you in another fast here soon. Hubby is going to camp tommorrow so I'll be able to start a fast tommorrow, hopefully. I have a hard time not eating around my husband. He can eat anything, eats a lot and gets away with it. It's just not fair. LOL :)
Blessings!

It is interesting you say OJ causes candida problems for you but no other juice does. hhhmmm. Seeing as how MH on curezone is ALL about OJ. And for some reason I was not notified you left me this response 4 months ago. I am just now happenning upon it. Interesting.
