  • calling all african american raw foodists!!   by  drpr     18 y     2,776       5 Messages Shown       Blog: Raw Odyssey

Are you out there? It would be nice to exchange information and experiences. Although many of our issues are no different from those of non-African Americans, some issues are specific to culture, or to health issues such as changes in skin and hair. It would be nice to exchange information and support. And if such an active place already exists, hook us in!!

vegsoul on yahoo groups. It wasn't my cup of tea because I connect with everyone. They're really for black people only as most of the discussions center around things you want to talk about.

      hi,

I just blogged you before I read you afro-raw blog. I guess I don't know exactly what a raw foodest is. I would like you to know that we as a rule, when we are not on this juice fast, eat raw veggies/steamed/grilled. I've been a crunchy veggier cooker since I've been a teen (now 40+). We don't eat pork, shellfish anything that cleans the land/sea. free ranged meats and limited unbleach sugar, whole wheat products, distilled water and always looking for ways to better our phyical bodies. And I know you know better than most, it takes a lot of discipline!!!
And you are right, when you don't eat the regular hog mags, veggies cooked to pulp and fried food in lard your often mistaken for a nut. But nuts live longer!! Oh, by the way I am black, but the organs function the same.

      Fellin' ya

Haha- I love your line "I'm black but the organs function the same"!! That is great. It sounds like what you do is similar to what raw foodists do. "Raw foodist" is just a tagline that groups people into a community of raw food eaters. I tend to stay away from claiming that label because labels imply other things, like common beliefs I don't necessarily share. But it's a useful term if you want to just talk about people who eat primarily raw foods. By the way, if you want to check out some great raw food recipes, take a look at Deradunes's blog!
