My Acanthocephalan worm
This could be a perfect specimen of an acanthocephalan worm; dehydrated and contained in a bag with baking soda for insurance. Notice how the body tapers to a toe at one end, while at opposite end widening into orange, extended proboscis (nose). Specimen length: 1 inch. Proboscis can be retracted inside of the yellow "body". Many structures can be seen, including red eyes, "brain" and "apparent" (not true) segmentation...the darkly shaded material in lower half is either feces or eggs. ..Most rotifers are transparent enough for food to be visible in the digestive system, so I'm not sure which. And no, I'm not removing it from the bag for better photos.
