I experienced the heavy bleeding and blood CLOTS as well. It scared the hell out of me. It’s hard to believe that this is a normal thing to happen after removal. I don’t think anyone is every warned that this will happen. It’s extremely scary when it happens. Please do call the Dr. to let them know this is happening. Just a precaution. I have the same problem. Although I experienced it before I had my Mirena.It has been out about 3 months. I have fibrocystic breasts.Do you have that as well? My breasts always get really sore right when I ovulate. I experience the feeling that you describe every once in a while. I know exactly what your mean. Hi Joanne PhD, Has your Dr. run tests on you to verify? I have suspected for a while now that I may have low progesterone. From all that I have researched, I have a lot of the symptoms. It’s just a deep down suspicion I have. But, with all I have read, I’ve never heard the term bio identical. I have been planning on having my regular doctor run blood tests, but just haven’t done it. My bleeding started 2 days after removal. I wasn’t due for my period for another week. My bleeding lasted about 2 weeks. I thought I was all done for the month- I woke up early Tuesday morning. I was soaked with blood. I soaked a ”thin” pad (not panty liner) every 2 hours until noon. Had blood clots as well. I then had to get regular pads, which I have never needed in my life. Please ”GOOGLE” endometriosis and progesterone (not progestin!). Progestin has very bad side effects. Where as progesterone have very good side effects. There is information regarding your problems and treatment with progesterone. I don’t know if your heavy bleeding is caused by the endometriosis or the ovarian cysts. I have read many things about hormone imbalance- we have all heard of so many problems caused by too little estrogen. Well , a lot of doctors believe the opposite. Please don’t be discouraged! If he has always been a good sleeper ,then somethings up. He may be teething. I think that’s the culprit most of the time. He may even be coming down with a cold. I know it’s so hard right now having to deal with getting up at night. It will pass. I promise. I read another mother’s message the other day that sounded just like yours. Her daughter was teething. I personally decided to have a second child when ”I” felt that I was ready. My oldest daughter was 3 and 3/4 years old when I gave birth to my little one (in 2004). I don’t believe in any ”rules” of how far apart they should or shouldn’t be. I didn’t have children so that they could be friends or have a playmate. I had to give up that ”power” a long time ago. My first daughter ate so well. She didn’t eat everything, but she did eat 3 square meals a day. I had mine removed 1 week ago. I too have been exhausted. I attribute it to the heavy flow that I have had since 2 days after removal. As I have stated in another thread, my breasts have been very sore. My period was actually due this Friday (got it early).They usually feel normal once my period starts. Soy milk is a good option. As well as soy yogurt. It is most of the time organic. It is non dairy. Soy has very good health benefits. My daughters prefer it now over regular milk.It comes in reg., vanilla, and chocolate. It is fortified and actually has less sugar than regular milk. Before I read your final message, I was going to blame it on teething. My daughters used to do the same thing. Still do. Whenever there is a sleep disruption or have a hard time going to sleep at bed time- there is normally something up. Either they are teething or getting sick. Just keep that in mind whenever it happens. It’s so hard and frustrating at the time, but it’s only for a while. They’ll be back to normal again.   [End]

It has been extremely heavy. It is tapering off a bit now. The only thing is my breast are still very tender. This normally subsides a day or two before my period starts. I had mine inserted in late April 07. My mom died of cancer shortly afterwards. I attributed all of my weight gain, depression, moodiness, short temper and problems with my husband to my mom. My husband and sister told me that I have just not been myself. The combination of the two things just fed each other. I really do think that the mirena has delayed my healing process with my mom. I felt the same way. I looked on line though to see if it’s possible. It would be a big mistake to try to pull it out yourself. There is a chance that you could pull the strings away from the IUD and it will be left in your uterus. Then you would have to go to the doctor anyway and have to give them an explanation. They would also have to dilate your cervix to get it out manually. It would be more trouble and pain than it’s worth. Please be safe. I had mine removed 7/12/07 yesterday. It only took a few seconds.
