Thank you for your story and insight!! I have come to the point that I really don’t care what my family thinks about our decision for our son!! I believe like you said that it is his decision, being that it is his body. My husband, brother, nephews,and father never had a choice. I want to give my son that opportunity to decide for himself. I am pregnant with my first son and my husband and I have decided not to circumcise our son. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to handle family members who may disagree? We are christians and have done tons of research. We both agree that there is no medical reason for it and we have no religious reason either. I went in for day surgery on the 11th of April. Laproscopy and two small incisions made to drain the infection out of my left fallopian tube. In order for the doc to see they pump your chest cavity full of CO2, they’re supposed to push the majority of it out, well they did not. Very painful even to breathe, so back to the E.R. and they admit me(YUCK). Come to find out I still have a 3cm. cyst on my left side that my doc says he HOPES it will dissapate on its own. I can’t begin to tell you all how scared I am to go into the hospital tomorrow and have exploratory surgery. I think not knowing what is ahead is worse than knowing what you are getting yourself into. I see the new posts on here and feel so bad for the women affected by this IUD. I hope you get it removed ASAP!!!! You have similar symptoms to me and I am going in for surgery tomorrow!! I had the IUD placed about a year ago after the birth of my second child and my pain started about 5-6 months ago. Turns out I have a severe infection and a large mass on my left side. The pain doesn’t start until damage is already done. Go to your doc and tell him/her you want the IUD out. Be sure to explain your symptoms and write everything down. Hi everybody, I have had an agonizing two weeks. My doc kept me in limbo for 10 days before telling me I need surgery. He is basing this on the results of my last ultrasound 10 days ago!!! I truly believe that the doctors are aware of the side effects of Mirena and just not letting on to their patients because they still want the money. Having an IUD placed or removed is not a cheap process. When I went in to have my IUD removed, I said to my doctor that I had read 12% of Mirena users get ovarian cysts, he said ”That is a very good number, however it is more like 50%.” I wanted you all to know that he also said that all of my pain, cysts, abcesses, and infection are a direct result from the Mirena!!! Hi Everybody, I got out of the hospital yesterday. It seems I have two cysts that got infected and became abcessed. I was put on two heavy antibiotics for 48 hours and ultrasound after ultrasound. I go back in for a check up in two weeks (provided all goes well) and they will determine if I need surgery at that point. I really want to thank you all for your support and prayers through this. My doc had my ultrasound results sitting on his desk for nearly 48 hours and finally called me today only to tell me that he is admitting to the hospital because I have a serious infection and a large mass on my left side. He is not sure if it is a cyst or an abcess!! If the IV antibiotics do not work I will have to have surgery. I AM TERRIFIED!! Hi Missy, All I can say is that the removal process is not painful. You hardly feel the IUD coming out. My doc seemed to have trouble grasping the strings which was uncomfortable. He also said that with IUD’s you either love ’em or hate ’em, there is no inbetween. What is good for one may not work for another. Hopefully your OB/GYN will feel the same. Yes I have had discharge almost since the IUD was placed, my doctor said some bleeding/discharge was normal. I have a hard time believing that now. Turns out I have an infection and am currently on heavy antibiotics. I had the IUD removed yesterday and my doc is very concerned. The lower abdomen pain is unbearable. First I had an ultrasound at 11am and had the Mirena removed at2pm. My doc had not received the ultrasound results, just a fax with some unclear info. My doc was extremely concerned?! I do think there are side effects to my husband!!!! When we were still having relations he could feel the ”string” during sex. Now that I have been in pain we have not had sex for weeks!! One he is scared to hurt me more and two he is afraid it will hurt him. I would say that is a side effect DIRECTLY related to this barbaric device. Hi Everyone I am new!! I have had Mirena for about a year and started having bad side effects about 4-5 months ago. It took me a while to realize that was the root of my problems.
