The surgery to remove the IUD went well. They found it between my uterus and bladder. It was stuck in my abdomen wall with a layer of tissue covering it. Sorry these images are so graphic. I just wanted to share the not-so-pretty side of the Mirena with everyone. Here’s where they found the IUD. The bottom organ is my uterus. The top organ is my bladder. Wow, thanks for that article! It sounds like what may have happened to me. Not saying that my doctor isn’t good, but she is rather young and may not know all the proper techniques of insertion. I’m a little scared that she is the one that will be doing the surgery to remove the IUD.   [End]

I really don’t want to scare you, but I’ll let you know my experience. First of all, when they put the IUD in me, the pain was so bad that I almost passed out. Afterward, my doctor said ”I don’t know why it was so hard to put in you!” At my annual visit 5 months later, she was unable to find the IUD with a physical exam and an ultrasound. She said it probably just fell out, but did an x-ray and CT scan just to be possitive. That’s how they found it in another part of my abdomen. All the symptoms I complained to my doctor about (cramping, back ache, headaches) I was told were a normal side ...

I had called that number a few names ago and gave them the same information about myself. They did not tell me that I would get any sort of refund or that they’d even contact me again. If they really want to tell me out, they could pay for the surgery I’m having to remove the IUD from my intestines. That’ll probably never happen, though.   [End]

I got the Mirena IUD in November 2006. After doing an ultrasound my doctor had determined that my IUD has ”disappeared.” After an x-ray and CT scan, they found that the IUD had ”slipped out” of my uterus and into my abdomon. It’s just floating around in there now. I have to have surgery to remove the IUD through my belly button. Has anyone heard of this happening to anyone else? Is there any action I can take against the makers of the Mirena or my doctor? I am a single mother raising my 6-month old daughter on my own and am afraid I will be able to afford all this.   [End]
