I did pick my lips but pretty sure I was doing that after my lips had already come apart. I think it was chapped lips and I was picking them and using carmex which made it worse.   [End]

That’s an interesting theory Healing. I’ve been using aquaphor for almost a month now and it does seem to lower the inflammation , but I have a feeling that if I started to grow the scabs back it would be the same as before when I was using leave alone. Once that first layer falls off the skin underneath is raw and tender. It always seems to be more red than it should be with slight inflammtion. I did a conventional leave alone for 10 months and when that wasn’t working I thought it wasn’t working because I was still stretching my lips normally. I’m talking with a lip scrub. Or some water and sugar mix that you put on your finger and gently rubbed on your lips in a circular motion? I’m guessing everyone on here never once exfoliated their lips in their life prior to getting EC, but if you did how often did you do it? Once a week?   [End]

I’ve had crusts that look different when using different methods. I think if you don’t smile or stretch the lips at all the scabs are stable for longer periods and they get yellow because they are drying and about to fall off and the parts of the scab that detaches off the lips start to die off. Also food residues and toothpaste has changed the color of my scabs. After I started leaving it alone and not stretching my lips the area that has scabbed up has gotten larger. Hi Healing, I was wondering what your timeline has been like with EC. When did you get it, what have you tried in chronological order. I noticed in some of your previous posts you tried moist healing like daniel with Aquaphor healing ointment. I’m assuming that didn’t work. It seems like that was the main reason for success with Daniel’s lips. In Daniel’s previous pictures I don’t think he had the upper lip raw triangle that many EC sufferers have. To those who have used it. Did it work for you or not? What were your results? How did you use it before you stopped? The logic behind aquaphor healing ointment is that the product can create an artificial barrier over your lips so your lips won’t have to do it themselves and harden and create that crust. So with the aquaphor healing ointment the barrier can protect the lips so they can heal underneath this moist coating. Yeah that was me that made that comment. I think when you take a picture with your lips together it’s harder to tell some of the rawer parts because the insides of people’s lips are usually where most of EC is noticeable. But it doesn’t seem like Daniel in earlier photographs had severe damage in the upper lip triangle in the center that others with EC like myself have. He did make a comment saying he uses chap stick all day. His EC might return if he stops using it, but I guess will never know because I doubt Daniel would want to stop using chap stick. Thanks Daniel. The Lower lip looks pretty good. I can’t really tell with the upper lip, but from some of your earlier pictures when you were leaving them alone it didn’t seem like you had the triangle in the middle of the upper lip. I read that you still sometimes wipe off stuff off your lips that you compared to rubbing your hands together. Is this stuff you wipe off where the white lip use to be?   [End]

It’s more than lying about the condition. There have been a few times where I felt like I was heading in the right direction, or that my lips looked better. I think its easy to use a bunch of products to hydrate the skin or put EC into remission. You don’t need to take a picture of your whole face just a closeup of the lips give others a better idea if the person is actually showing improvement.   [End]

True or False: There is a documented proven cure of EC. I’ve searched everywhere and there are dozens of people claiming they have been cured with absolutely zero proof. Then there are others claiming they are cured but continue to use products to keep their lips from cycling. So far I haven’t come across a single account where the person has proven via photo they had EC and now they don’t have EC.   [End]
