My niece had it in for 1 year, and when she couldn’t see and had tingling fingers and toes, I took her to the ER to have it removed. Her symptoms are gone! This ’device’ has created havoc amongst females like you, but no doctor will admit that this is the cause of all the side effects. I say, get your man used to using a condom. Hi all~ Just wanted to update everyone on my nieces progress. (she was being tested for MS due to MS symptoms, had her Mirena removed after 1 year) 3 days after having her Mirena taken out, ALL, yes, ALL of her symptoms started to subside. Her blurred/foggy vision, her tingling fingers and toes, etc.. Her gyn DID send her to a neurologist, who stated that the ’web is a bunch of wishy-washy stuff’ (he had how many years of schooling?) You hang in there!! I have posts on here related to my niece where I took her to the ER to get it taken out. First, call ahead and check to see if there is an OB/GYN on call on that floor. Tell them why your coming and that you EXPECT them to remove that damn thing! When you get there, tell them if they don’t take it out, and something happens to you, ie., hemmorage, etc., you will be blaming them for it! It is NOT their decision whether to have it out or not, it’s yours, so stand up to them and tell them to take it out! Then, get some anti-depressants to get you through your depression if ...

First and foremost, I want to thank you all for the kind words for my niece who is being tested for MS, (just got her Mirena out on Monday). The tech that did her MRI has 30 years experience, and although she said not to tell anyone at the hospital, she said she did not detect a SPECK of MS lesions on her brain!! We are now waiting for the results of the Mirena cultures, and a blood test that has to be ordered out specially. The OB/GYN still wants her to see a neurologist. I am happy for you that you found the weight loss to be effective for you moods swings, etc.., but what if you had tingling fingers and blurred/crossed vision? My niece is 19 and has a 1 year old. She began having symptoms such as these and is being tested for MS. She has had an eye exam, CT scan, blood work and is scheduled for an MRI tomorrow and on to the neurologist after that. Isn’t that basically a waste of insurance money?? Took my niece to the ER today with ’forum’ info in hand, (no names, or identifying info was used). Most nurses were Pissed off and appalled. I was so happy to find this forum. My niece, (19) called in tears saying her vision was blurred/doubled and her hands and arms were ’tingly’. The doctor gave her a CAT scan, she saw an eye doctor and is scheduled for an MRI on tuesday of this week.
