I saw the oral/max surgeon who said IV antibiotics for 6 to 12 weeks would be the way to go. So my M.D. spoke with him and an infectious disease doc and they put together a plan of attack. It was recommended that I use Invanz for 42 days. It’s a newer antibiotic that kills both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Since we do not know exactly what bacteria is causing the osteomyelitis, it was the best choice. I had a PICC line inserted two weeks ago and just finished having my 13th Invanz infusion. Well, here I am again with an update. After the round of Clindamycin in early summer, I had a good couple of months. Around August, I began having a tingling feeling in the area where I had the cavitation surgery in March. I just wrote it off thinking it was the bone growing back. Then my facial skin began to break out over the site. I attributed that to the fact that hayfever had me breathing through my mouth and drooling all night - yes...now you all know I’m a drooler. Here is an update, 4 months after the surgery: Since I had cavitation surgery on 3 adjacent sites in my lower left jaw on March 23rd, my health has continued to improve in many ways. although slowly. After the surgery, I was not given pharmaceutical antibiotics, but herbs and homeopathics. In May, the infection flared up and I had pain and swelling. Dr. Evans prescribed an antibiotic for ten days. The infection resolved slowly, but seems to be all gone now. My energy level is coming up, my mental functioning is better. Update: Had successful cavitation surgery and the lipoma in my arm is shrinking over time. I am noticing more and more floaters, however. I’ve had floaters since I was a toddler - long before any fillings. Eye doctor says they are due to the extremely elongated shape of my eyeballs.   [End]

Hi Mary Ann, Just had cavitation surgery 3 days ago on 3 extraction sites. I had acupuncture immediately following and again the next day. When the acupuncturist placed needles in point Large Intestine 4 on both hands, the pain absolutely disappeared. Now, that point may have been for my particular situation - I had surgery on the back lower left jaw. There may be a different point for the eye teeth area.
