2 months ago my dermatologist prescribed me Elidel to pretty much use until my lips get better, but it wasn’t doing anything. So after using it for a month, I asked for Protopic instead, and lo and behold a few weeks later peeling just completely stopped. I don’t think I have ever reached this point as far as EC goes, and I’ve had it for about 6 years now. I don’t see myself stopping Protopic anytime soon since my lips are still a bit inflamed and get irritated easily, but the swelling has gone down as well. Really recommend trying Protopic. Here are the important parts of my biopsy results. I translated it to the best of knowledge. Skin biopsy 0,2cm Microscopic description: Lip biopsy shows visible uneven hyperplasia of epidermis, subepithelial layer mucinosis, very slight perivascular and interstitial lymphocyte infiltratation. Clinical Diagnosis: Lower lip cheilitis, urtcitaria, lip mucinosis Final pathological diagnosis: Changes seen in the biopsy are compatible with lip mucinosis diagnosis   [End]

Anyway, I’m back from the hospital. The consilium (not sure how to translate it) of doctors there really tore my dermatologist apart and instead proposed it was just an allergy and it was natural for mucin to be inside the lips (not sure about that but whatever). Their proposal was for me to use antihistamines, which I’ve told them I’ve used for a year straight, despite all allergy tests being negative etc. I am to come back there in 1 month. Sorry for the 4 year bump. I’ve had my biopsy results return and I have the same result. The diagnosis from the pathologist who examined the biopsy says ”lip mucinosis”. When I asked my dermatologist what the hell that is she described something like the reticular erythematous mucinosis. Apparently it’s quite rare and tomorrow I’ll be going to be examined by a group of doctors who will decide how it should be treated at the same hospital. Apparently it’s quite rare.   [End]

Ibinns, if you are planning on having those fillings removed, you should make sure your dentist uses the iaomt protocol, since most metal fillings are made from amalgam. Before my case started, I had dental work done, including amalgam fillings (sigh). Planning on getting them removed in the nearby future as well.   [End]

Didn’t really get a biopsy done, since there’s little point if the doctor doesn’t know the diagnosis or treatment. Of course I’m not really saying that I am 100% sure that I have it, but some of the symptoms almost fit perfectly and when the swell ups flare up they look almost exactly like in some of the pictures. I’m planning on getting a biopsy done not too far ahead, but only after some stuff works out in life and, well, probably abroad as well.   [End]

Bepanthene plus? Yep, I’ve used in the past when my derm recommended it. Made lips more inflamed and spread the peeling in some areas. Might have been because my derm told me to use a whole lot more than recommended, so yeah. Then again I think that I have a mix of exfoliative and granulomatous cheilitis, but I still haven’t found a doctor who knows even one of these.   [End]

Hi, Vunk. I am not sure what has caused this, however at the time, I was using this cheap-o scar ointment on my face, I also exposed myself to quite a lot of food allergens, and at the time I still didn’t know that I had a sensitivity/intolerance to gluten. I also pretty much chewed on my lips for the last 8 years lol, but I guess at that particular time something went wrong lol. I do live somewhere in eastern Europe, and it’s really cloudy most of the time here, plus the weather is really balanced, so I do not really believe that the climate played any part of this.   [End]
