Hi, Sorry for taking so long in getting back to you. No I never did get a specific confirmation of the particular strain of bacteria I had. But to be honest, it was quite some time before it was even confirmed by anyone that the condition I had was indeed folliculitus. The dermatologist I was sent to see did not seem able to do very much for me. His help was not much better than my GP’s. Personally I would not take their word for what you have as gospel, because sometimes they don’t always know with real certainty. Sometimes one type of spot simply looks like many other types of spot. So it’s sometimes necessary to try to research what might be causing the problem yourself. I’m inclined to think it is a standard form of folliculitis, but obviously the infection seen here is pretty severe, so has probably been going on for quite some time now. I’ve little doubt that there will be at least some scaring if he the poster finally manages to find a cure, but to what extent would be best determine once the infection has been killed off. The scarring might not be as bad as might be expected once the soreness goes away and things settle back to normal. But attempting to eradicate this problem with antibiotics alone is, in my opinion, unlikely to work while the same ...

It’s been 9 years. As I mentioned, I was plagued this condition for the best part of ten years, during which time, I examined by several GP’s, and was succesively prescribed with numerous different types of antibiotics. One of two of them seemed to clear things up while I was on them, but as soon as I came off, I’d be ok for about a week or so, then the spots simply returned same as before.
