Questran Does not always work! Heres a lovely story
This is a great site and I'm glad I found it...
My 39 year old Mother has the "problem" not me....
On New Year's Eve 1998, my mother had her gallbladder removed, Ever since then she has had horrible "dumping" or Postcholecystectomy Syndrome also 10-20 mins after eating. As we all know by now the GALLBLADDER REMOVAL WAS THE CAUSE! Well her doctor doesn't think so... So we are going round and round with this.
We have tried everything! All the meds... except for that Welchol which I read about in here (Thank You to that person she is going to talk to her dr. about it) We didn't know that this could happen, as like almost everyone that has the surgery.... For some reason doctors don't want people to know the possibilities of chronic diarrhea. Questran which a lot of people use to help this condition.... Doesn't work for her. If my mother didn't take it, She would be in the bathroom at least 16-18 HOURS a day. With the meds though... she only sees a bathroom from anywhere to 1-5 hours. You can see that this is a problem... Well Now guess what. She is on disability, which pays jack! And she is loosing her home, due to lack of money. Well you would think a doctor at this point would take her seriously... (One would think!) Just 2 weeks ago she had a colonoscopy (her first) Well the doctor thought it was all in her head... untrue! Then he said there was NO CAUSE to check her Upper GI track. The fact that she has abdominal pain and pain in the back shoulder areas, don't mean anything. Ohh and the diarrhea isn't caused by the gallbladder surgery she had, right... So I'm fed up she's fed up! She has been to 5 specialists, and 3 family doctors. Not on of them will say that the diarrhea has been caused by the surgery.
There is no cure, I know this... But if ANYONE has ANY MEDICAL info that could help... PLEASE CONTACT ME! Any types of tests their doctors have taken and why would be greatly needed!
