When these miracle drugs first came out, my doctor
decided to *try* some out on me for an issue I had
which produced seizures. I had whipped out my PDR
and did not like the effect they potentially had
on my liver, but my doctor insisted this would solve
my issues. From day one, I did not like the feeling
of them and felt like they *made* me depressed~! I
called her but she insisted it needed 2 weeks minimum
to work. Well into the first week, I was sitting
in my rocking chair, "frozen", like you can imagine
the Tinman from the Wizard of oz movie. I could not
even open my mouth and could barely move my eyes...
"call the doctor" I squeaked out. Of course, she
was freaked and if I had been able to move, she
would have drug me into a hospital to cover her
butt but thankfully she said, stop taking those pills.
The point being that I had a gut feeling that this
stuff was not acting the way those pamphlets or all
the raz-ma-taz ways my doctor insisted it would.

I wish that doctors would involve patients MORE
in allowing feedback and understanding that if you
are one of the 25% that react dramatically, that
it is a huge deal for you. She hyped a series of
drugs to me over the span of our relationship, just
like drugs were the BEST way to control symptoms
of different issues. I learned meditation and diet
had a better effect and finally said no. What she
did not know was that most of those prescriptions
had gone unused and tossed in a drawer, a waste of
money, since drug stores do not accept returns~!

While drugs have their place, many people are given
false hope and are used as guinea pigs. Doctors
really do not know as much about them...most, only
what the drug reps hype to them...certainly there
was not enough in any journals to indicate all the
problems to come that people have suffered. If the
drug companies did know, they were not talking. I
feel profit is the bottom line.

I noticed not long ago that after all this time, they
are now saying that the side effects were so drastic
that use of any of those drugs were contraindicated
for my problem. I feel like I was one of the lucky ones,
and feel really glad I did not trash my liver for absolutely
nothing.

Thanks for sharing~~it gave me a chance to remember
that dysfunctional doctor-patient relationship and
feel good again about finally going my own way...

blessings,
Zoe
