Thanks for the sympathetic words.
I read something someone quoted on these boards a while ago that near broke my heart: "Forgiveness means giving up all hope for a better past." I reckon it's so. It seems so obvious and yet it's been so hard for me to cast all that baggage away and start off again with fresh legs. I've been trying my whole life.
Zen types say there's no such thing as a past, or a future, just an ever-transforming present moment. I like that idea cause it means there's nothing to escape from or to sever with. But it's tough to really absorb and live by that whole concept when you've been entrenched in the past/present/future abstraction yer whole life.
I dunno. I hope you're able to love yourself and make friends with the dark times from your past. Sounds like you've already got this stuff figured out pretty good. peace
