Hey noclue,
What makes you think I *wasn't* a raving lunatic?!?!? LOLOLOL I was.
Also my diagnosis of Lyme disease really kind put the final nail in the coffin for me. Also I am so disgusted with cigarette companies. Talk about Big Business corporate villains. I was just soooo ready to quit.
Another thing I told myself was that I could do anything I wanted as long as I didn't smoke. eat as much chocolate, stay up as late, etc. etc. That helped, and I did gain a few pounds but then after about a month and a half everything normalized.
It is hard because my husband smokes. But every day i am so happy to be smoke free and not with my soul in custody of Joe Camel...I don't want to give up this happiness. No more guilt when I go to the doctors, no more stinky hair or fingers... I smoked for about 14 years.
Anyway...it was really freaking hard to quit. But I braced myself through the cravings. They hit at intervals. Like one minute you will be fine and then the next it's like "AAAAAAAAUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need a smoke NNNNNNNNNNNNNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!" If you can just sit tight for the few minutes then you'll be great. The first 3 days are the worst.
Good luck...the lobelia really really helps but nothing takes the place of just sticking to the decision no matter what.
Somewhere Dear Abby has a list of good things that happen when you quit smoking. I'll see if I can dig it up.
I'm cheering for ya,
Alison
