Hi. I successfully quit smoking 37 days ago today !!!! To say that I am rather pleased with myself would be an understatement:} I just want to let people know that it can be done, and it does get easier the farther you go along. I still do everything I always have. I hardly and rarely miss them now. One thing I noticed about quitting with the help of alcohol as an anastetic for the first few days is that alcohol does not trigger a craving for nicotine for me now. Thus, the bar scene poses no problem for me. I also continued drinking coffee and it does not trigger cravings for me either. I have been through a few stressful things in the last month and have gotten through it without cigarettes. I think the key to quitting smoking is deciding to do it. And then doing it. If you are still kind of on the fence about quitting, you are not ready yet. You must decided that once and for all, smoking is not an option. I have decided to buy myself an inexpensive vacation property close to some relatives of mine as a reward for what I previously viewed as me doing the impossible. My family is still in disbelief of my having actually quit. Everyone was sure I would smoke for life. I was sure I would smoke for life. So never give up hope. It's not easy, but once you do it, you wonder why it was so difficult. Did I mention that I can't stop smiling? PS. I have put on about 10 lbs, but you know what? I don't care at the moment. I'll start caring in about another month, when my wallet starts getting too heavy :}
