Bottom line IS how you feel, regardless about any "test" results. People tend to know their own bodies, and can tell when something is amiss, but, it can be true that ingestion of something the body needs, but hasn't had in quite some time may cause discomfort too, as things tend towards a new state of equilibrium, especially in the beginning. I think we've seen quite a few cases where folks starting on iodine feel discomfort. Typically, it correlates with the level of accumulated toxins in the body. That's a general statement and the toxins can be many, and disposed in many places. If it were me, I would start out with one drop Lugol's a week. Then increase to one drop every 5 days, etc., or whatever else I was comfortable with, once I had determined I was deficient, if that were in fact the case. the iodine loading test can confirm or deny such a conclusion. Statistically, the vast majority of folks are deficient and benefit from adding iodine to their lives. I don't know anything about you, so I can't speak about what it might be going on in your case, unlike others who purport to be know-it-alls. In general though, I would expect one's overall health to improve from putting iodine in, if they were deficient. I've experienced incredible improvements and enhancements in myself.
Upon ingestion, iodine goes right to the bones. This we know. So I'm not surprised that you felt it in the joints. I could speculate about synovial fluid chemistry changes, but it would be pure conjecture. Sorry for not being able to supply more info. But, you did get an honest reply.
