Thanks for the input SP,
Interestingly enough, I have never had a weight problem. I'm 5'9" - before the flush I weighed about 182 to 185; I have a medium frame with a thin building. I now weigh in about 170; I really don't want to go any lower.
I agree about the medicine. I've been on Gemfibrizol, Lipitor, and Niaspan. I was also on Tricor for a very short period (less than a week) a while back, and my Dr. recently represcribed it for me. While on medication, my triglycerides may have been regulated to some degree, but still got progressively worse. They went from border line high around 1995 to their current high levels of 1300 to 1400 while on the meds. Admittedly, I didn't incorporate enough dietary changes while I was on them. I haven't started using Tricor again, even though my doctor wants me to. I might start again once my stomach is 100%.
I'd like to keep flushing, but my wife, who is 5 months pregnant with a bad back and a rambunctious 2 year old, wants me to put it on hold for a while. She isn't comfortable with the potential "risks".
My priority right now is restricting refined sugar, flower and sweeteners from my diet, limiting coffee and alchohol intake, heavily reducing fried and fatty foods, eating more fresh fish and trying to find an exercise regime that fits my life style and, more importantly, my disposition. I've also made efforts to get flax seed oil in my diet (instead of fish oil) and improve my dietary fiber intake. I've been taking a B complex vitamin with Niacin, vitamin C and zinc, but I really don't like taking a lot of supplements, as they irritate my stomach.
If my TG's continue to drop, I'll do another flush sometime after my wife recovers from delivery and is back on her feet. Until then, I'm going to remain active in this forum. Thanks to everyone for all I've learned here, especially you and Southern Belle.
