I suspect that you have a serious electrolyte imbalance. This can happen easily when you take too much of a magnesium based laxative and flush out too much fluid in a short time. It can also happen after a bout of diarrhea and "stomach flu". At this point I suggest you concentrate on getting mineral salts into your body. I make a drink that has 3/4 cup fresh lemon juice (it must be fresh), a quarter teaspoon of Sea Salt and a small amount of sweetener. You can use Maple syrup, sorghum, honey, cane juice or even plain sugar. The sweetener is necessary to allow proper cellular absorption, never use artificial sweeteners in this drink. Mix everything into a half gallon of pure water and drink 4-8 ounces every hour throughout the day. Do not drink all at once, this will defeat the purpose of the drink. There is a commercial product called EmergenC that is also an excellent source of mineral salts, but each packet contains a gram of vitamin C and too much might cause diarrhea in some people. Still, I suggest you take a glass of EmergenC every four hours. Almost any good veggie juice, even canned V-8 will provide you with minerals that will help balance your hydration level. The main thing is to slowly sip fluids throughout the day, but not take so much at one time that you constantly have to urinate. You need to give your body time to absorb the fluids and electrolytes.
For most people the green bottle of magnesium citrate is a safe and effective laxative. You are either unusually sensitive to magnesium and got an overdose, or you already were mildly dehydrated and the mag. citrate put you over the safe limit. The very fact you needed a laxative points to be somewhat dehydrated.
The continued pain might indicate you have a small blockage or perhaps a narrowing in the colon that is preventing complete evacuation. Try the mineral rich drink is I suggested and see if this helps you feel better. You may need to experiment with a mild stimulant herbal laxative for a short time to get you peristaltic movements going again and help get you empty. What ever you do, go slowly and do not be tempted to overdose on anything.
