hi, sorry to hear you have had so many problems. All the symptoms you mention, including the pains are symptoms that Mirena can cause. Mirena symptoms can get worse after removal for a period of time for some people. Other people have a lessening of most of the original symptoms but start new ones after removal. It seems to very much depend on how the individual body is trying to cope with the chemical residue left in the system. The body can take many months, even up to a year to completely settle after mirena has been taken out so it may be that there is nothing actually wrong with you, as such, simply that your body is trying to overcompensate for the progesterone dominance that you have had with mirena, and that it will right itself given time and help via a good diet and cleansing of the liver. (of course, your doctors would probably not acknowledge that lol)
Unfortunately, however, for a few people Mirena seems to really muck up their body chemistry long term. It is not known for sure if mirena can interefere with thyroid/iodine absorption, but there are people on this forum who have responded to Iodine after mirena, so i am beginning to think that there may indeed be a connection which should be further investigated by the manufacturers of mirena.
If you want to try Iodine for a while to see if you respond to it, then an easy way to get Iodine into your system in a safe way is to take KELP tablets (which can be bought from a reputable health store) - the instructions on the label will tell you how many to take. I have been taking them for a couple of weeks now, and have noticed that i have much more energy - i am positively flying lol. I also have raised cholesterol, which iodine can help with, so am hoping it may do something there too, but that would be a more long term thing. Anyway, i hope you get on alright and that your blood tests come back ok, do let us know what happens with that side of things. I sincerely hope that at least SOME of your symptoms start to go soon! You can also try St. Johns wort herb, which stops the chemical in mirena from working, so may help in the detoxification of your system. Also dandelion is a good liver and kidney cleanser. I wish you well:) x
