Two possibilities I have read...

...One suggested that poop, itself, is nearly all bacteria. So, if anything has been slowing down the movements, that might be a reason it smells so bad...it has been fermenting too long.

...Another said that bromine coming out (when adding to Iodine intake?), in sweat, etc., smells awful...for a while. Have you been eating any kelp, or the like?

I know very little about either subject. I am only guessing.

Surely this will pass. (Pun intended.)
